We stayed for 4 nights over the Easter weekend 2014 and were not disappointed. Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Spice Bazar, Archeological Museum, Basilica Cistern, Sultan Tombs, Gulhane Park, local ferries across the water are all wthin a 5 to 7 minute walk so the location is ideal. The staff were always helpful with very useful local knowledge. The swimming pool in the basement is great for a relaxing swim and breakfast has lots of variety. Loved the manual orange juice maker for freshly squeezed juiice every morning.
If luggage is not a problem allow an hour for efficient and frequent public transport - (from Attaturk) metro to Zeytinburnu and then the tram to the Gulhane stop which is a 4 minute walk to the hotel and cost 4 TL per person for the journey. The Imbat restaurant on the 7th floor is very good with great views over the Bosphorous. Rooms have a kettle and mugs for tea and coffee and it is always great to be able to check in and print your return boarding pass, on the fast internet computers. There is a range of restaurants for different budgets on your doorstep. Delighted to recommend

My family and I just returned from Istanbul yesterday, and we already miss the city and the people at the Orient Express Hotel! We stayed there for 8 nights, and the staff made the hotel really feel like a home away from home. The rooms were clean, lovely, and just the right size. The breakfast in the morning was wonderful and generous in its offerings. Their Imbat Restaurant on the roof was amazing in terms of food, view, and service. We went there once for lunch, once for drinks, and for dinner on our last night there. Don't make the mistake of not heading upstairs to dine at Imbat! My husband and children also enjoyed their very nice pool. The staff helped us with the usual small/typical things (directions, calling cabs, making reservations), but also in big ways. When my son's asthma flared up and our nebulizer did not work due to voltage differences, the hotel's porter (lovely tall man with dark hair) went with him to the pharmacy. When my husband's Visa didn't work and he didn't have enough TL to pay for it with him, the porter paid 100TL out of his own pocket (which my husband then repaid him after going to an ATM). When we were leaving, he was the one that packed our bags into the taxi, and I saw him wave to our retreating van while standing in the middle of the busy road. Still chokes me up. Istanbul is amazing, and this hotel is just one of the many reasons it is!

... and we weren't dissappointed.

Because we had stayed here before, we decided to stay in Istanbul on our way home after a trip in Asia. It is nicely located so it is an easy walk tom many of the sights like the Topkapi Palce, the Aya Sofia and the Blue Mosque. In the other direction, the Spice Market and the Eminuno waterfront are only minutes away.

The service is still very friendly and efficient. The rooms are still small but well-appointed and clean. The breakfast is still very good with a huge choice to satisfy all tastes.

The upstairs terrace restaurant still serves high quality food.

My stay at the Orient Express Hotel was only a single night but it was a wonderful experience. From the time I made the reservation, the staff offered help that was invaluable. Airport transportation, currency flexibility, dinner reservation and assistance with a short time of sightseeing. The responses were so prompt and helpful. All the connections were flawless. The room was elegantly appointed and wonderfully comfortable, with luxurious linens and appointments. The dinner was elegant and delicious, the rooftop view was lovely. The front desk handled my bill with incredible creativity - proposing that payment in US dollars was as acceptable as Turkish Lira or Euros. And the Breakfast Buffet was absolutely amazing. I recommend this hotel most highly.

Room Tip: I understand that rooms on the back side of the hotel are a bit quieter, but I suspect they are all...

We had dinner here and enjoyed it very much. The restaurant in on the top floor of the hotel and the view was amazing. The food was delicious and the atmosphere very pleasant. The decor was understated and the lighting just right, making for a lovely spot for a special dinner. The service was great. It is very eassy to get here from the Sultahnamet

From start to finish the Orient Express didn't disappoint. The staff were extremely friendly and happy to help in whatever way they could. Arriving to a decent sized room with complimentary Turkish delight was just what we needed after a long day travelling. The breakfast was excellent, with a great choice of food. We also tried the restaurant on the top floor of the hotel, the view was incredible and the food didn't disappoint. The swimming pool was a great way to relax after a long day sightseeing. And by paying with cash we got a 10% discount- what more could you ask for?!
I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody.

This is a good little hotel in a great location - conveniently situated for many tourist attractions. Our room was comfortable with everything we needed although it was a little small without much storage space. This did not bother us but may not suit some people. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were given the option of having a room at the back of the hotel if we found the allocated room too noisy. It was fine and we could only hear the usual city noises. We would definitely stay there again.
