“Great hotel in an ideal location!”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

I stayed here last week with my wife and two sons (aged 4 and 1). This really is a great hotel in a great location. Gulhane and Sikerci Tram stations are 3 minutes walking distance from the hotel. The Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia and Basilica Cistern are all within walking distance. Also on the the same road as the hotel are plenty of shops and restaurants.

The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helful. They are always willing and able to give advice on sightseeing, travel, etc. The room is clean and well laid out.

My sons also enjoyed the spending time in the indoor pool that the hotel has.

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful hotel mid-july for a long weekend. We wanted something central, near the typical monuments like Ayia Sophia and our choice turned out perfect!Everything is walking distance, the tram line is a 3-min walk as is Sirkeci station and the ferry. We blown away by the quality of the staff and the degree of hospitality they offer. The rooms were impeccably clean and house cleaning was available all day long. The pool is wonderful for cooling off after all the walking. The breakfast was copious and very tasty. The best feature of course is the roof top cafe/restaurant with a breathtaking view of the Bosporus. Don't hesitate to take advantage of the offer for hotel guests and enjoy desert and coffee in the afternoon. We also had a lovely diner. We will definitely be back next time we visit!

Excellent start to an Istanbul vacation. Just minutes from the tram stop. Extremely attentive staff. As other posters noted, small rooms, but considering you are in the midst of old istanbul, quite satisfactory. Very good value.

The location is great, 10 min walking from all the historic sights. The staff is wonderful, Ali is the best. The breakfast buffet is awesome, as well as the restaurant on the roof. The rooms are ok, not bad, not great. I do recommend this hotel for a leaisure visit.

Room Tip: Higher floors away from the mainstreet

The staff can make or break any hotel. In this case, they make.
Everyone from receptionist to housekeeping did a great job in making me feel welcomed.
The rooms are very small and very basic, which is understandable in this part of town. I got a quiet room that overlooked a shabby backyard. I was given a choice between this and another room on a higher floor with a street view, but this one was quieter, and having stayed in Sultanahmet before, I know it can be noisy.
The hotel is a short walk away from most attractions and tram stops. The location couldn't be better. Clean & comfortable although basic. AC was a bit noisy. The room had no real chair. Only a backless seat. I had to watch a world cup match in bed to get some back support.
The restaurant is everything you've heard and more. It truly deserves its reputation. The breakfast was good and sufficient. You'll find the usual spread with all the expected dishes.
Good hotel in general.

Room Tip: All the rooms I saw were almost the same size, and all were on the smallish side. If you like a quie...

We loved this Hotel, from the first impression of the Staff through to the location, views from our room and helpful staff. The reception team were helpful at all times and Ozlem, the customer relations lady sat us down and gave us a complete introduction to Istanbul as this was our first visit. The hotel is well located & the surrounding area is very interesting. I would recommend this hotel

Room Tip: I gave average for noise level. We were on level 7 & our room was directly under the restaurant...

I am the a resort General Manager in another part of the world and I was completely delighted by my experience at the Orient Express. I was curious my first afternoon at folks down below in the street stopping to photograph the hotel, so I went down and across the street to look. Discovering the almost Bavarian flower boxes outside of all of the windows enlivening the entire street. It was indeed lovely and unexpected. I took pictures, too. This good taste is reflected on the interior as well. The room was small but tastefully appointed and priced absolutely correctly. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. The location for touring the major sights is perfect.

Room Tip: Can't imagine not having the street facing rooms. Open the window and let some Istanbul in !
