“Very Enjoyable Stay”
Reviewed 12 April 2009

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Sebnem. The location is great, the views from the terrace are wonderful. The rooms are a bit small, but that is pretty typical for Turkey. The price was a bit high for the small room. The buffet breakfasts we had every morning were the best that we had in Turkey. Huge delicious figs, fresh yogurt, nuts, eggs, etc, plus all the tea or coffee you could drink day and night. The staff was very helpful, but also found that to be typical for Turkey. We really enjoyed lounging on the roof terrace before or after a day of sightseeing watching the ships go by on the Bosphorous.

I can't say enough about this hotel. I think the other reviews speak for themselves. But, like most of the others I found the staff to be amazingly warm and helpful. The rooftop terrace was perfect, even in winter! While sitting on the terrace drinking free espresso from the kitchen and checking my email on the free laptops the staff came over and turned on the heater. They even brought popcorn for me to munch on! What amazing hospitality!

The buffet breakfast is more than just the standard western continental breakfast. They also have a huge assortment of turkish food (I think) in addition to the cereals, toasts, eggs, fruit, fresh juices, etc.

The rooms are very clean, and that's a lot coming from someone who normally combs the sheets before climbing in to bed. The bathroom was modern and our room had a nice flat screen tv with cable.

This hotel is exactly what it should be, affordable, clean, friendly, convenient and a place that you enjoy returning to after a long day of sightseeing.

Just returned from a 4-day stay... Hotel Sebnem was ideally located near the Sultanahmet Mosque, Aya Sofia, Arasta Bazaar and Topkapi Palace. The staff was exceptionally helpful. When the power was out, due to no fault of theirs, they even paid for our dinner at a wonderful nearby restaurant. They also helped us arrange for a van to/from the airport and tape up the carpets we purchased. The breakfast was varied, plentiful and delicious! The terrace was quite pleasant and had two laptops. The linens were luxuriously soft, and a second pillow provided without asking. Would highly recommend Hotel Sebnem!!

After a false start in Istanbul we phoned the Sebnem late in the evening to see what accommodation was available for a five night stay and a positive and welcoming response lead us to the hotel the following morning. We immediately liked the room (room12 which had recently been refurbished) and were invited to have breakfast which surpassed our expectations by far with freshly squeezed orange juice, cappuccino, fresh rolls and honey to name but a few. All this and splendid views over the Sea of Marmara.
Free internet, flat screen TV, fresh water and powerful showers with spotlessly clean rooms almost completed the package but the hotel team (Unal, Fatih and the 'breakfast/house ladies') added the final touches with their unstinting offers of help anytime of the day or night. Proximity to key attractions (Topkapi, Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia) is a real bonus. We would not hesitate to stay there again. Clive & Lorrie

Huseyin, the owner of the Sebnem seems to have got it right! A happy staff makes all the difference to the quality of one's stay. We recieved attentiveness and thoughtfulness, trust and friendliness from the whole of the staff without exception and we felt so at ease and valued.
The rooms had really modern bathrooms and televisions, lovely wooden floors and comfy beds.
The breakfasts were absolutely magnificent in their variety and freshness - self service from a myriad of choices - vegetables, fresh fruit ready sliced and in salad, pancakes, pastries, yoghust and honey eggs, cheeses, cakes , dried fruits and nuts, meats .... I could go on and on.
Information and guide books were available and visit suggestions made. The staff seemed to have infinite patience and real caring.
The location was just perfect - so near the palace and the two famous mosques, and the terrace had a superb view of the Bosphorus and a mere 7or 8 minute walk to the ferries..
In short, a gem of a hotel and every member of staff, a star!

Just spent 2 nights at Sebnem in a twin room having travelled solo from London by train on the old Orient Express route and was definitely in need of a relaxed hotel. It is a small hotel run by very friendly people. The Sunday morning I arrived at 8.30 am both tired and hungry, the room was obviously not vacated, however I was made feel at home and given a lovely Mediterranean buffet breakfast on the rooftop with great views over the Bosphorous. Hüseyin on the desk could not have been more helpful in suggesting where to eat and how to use the tram / ferry system. Upon arrival he immediately made a reservation for me to see the majestic Sema Ceremony (Whirling Dervishes). A lovely hotel for a solo trip and I look forward to returning again with my wife.

Similar to all of the other reviews for this hotel, hands down I would recommend this hotel to other friends who are looking to visit Istanbul. The hotel staff go above and beyond their call of duty and made us feel we were staying at a family friend's house as opposed to a hotel. The breakfast and drinks on the rooftop was the most memorable part of the stay with also free internet. You can always have tea, coffee and filtered water available anytime. It's close to restaurants and bars and walking distance to the blue mosque. Hotel was recently renovated so it was very clean and comfortable.
