“Perfect location, fantastic hotel”
Reviewed 19 August 2010

We looked at this hotel based on the Lonely Planet recommendation - checked out it's website and decided to book. Booking was easy and done over the email, very efficient and friendly. The Sebnem certainly lives up to expectations - the staff are fantastic, so helpful and friendly. The room was excellent, the roof terrace had a great view and divine lounges (plus the wine and beer were well priced), free internet access was a bonus and the breakfast spread is amazing. The location couldn't be better - we were there for a week and just loved the experience.

I recently had a one night layover in Istanbul, so I scoured the internet for a reasonably priced hotel in Sultanahmet. I found and booked the Hotel Sebnem and just hoped it would be comfortable. When I arrived, I could not have been happier. Sebnem is a small, comfortable, immaculate hotel located just off the main street in Sultanahmet, and is a two block walk from the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. The terrace on the 3rd level has a lovely view of the Marmara, and doubles as a breakfast terrace in the morning and a quiet place for drinks in the evening. Breakfast is a veritable feast of fruits, vegetables, eggs, breads and pastries, and serving both Turkish and espresso coffees. The hotel staff was amazing too. I had a problem in the morning with my pre-arranged transportation to the airport. The receptionist called the transportation company for me and when that turned out to be a problem he called and booked a cab for me which arrived in less than a minute! I give the Sebnem two thumbs up (a 5!) and would recommend it to anyone who needs a comfortable, conveniently located hotel for a good price in Istanbul!

We couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough. It's in a great location down a quiet side street (no noise disturbance at night at all) just off a lovely picturesque street with outside restaurants and cafes, and just 5 mins walk from the Blue Mosque and Ayia Sofia. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly, and our room was comfortable and very clean. But the absolutely best thing about this hotel was the stunning roof top terrace and the breakfast they serve up there. Probably the best breakfast we have ever eaten in any hotel - absolutely huge and with great coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice, and with such an amazing view, you could spend all day up there!

On a small side street in Sultanahmet district, Sebnem offers a good location, clean rooms and excellent value. We travelled in Turkey for 2 more weeks and found the Sebnem breakfast spread and tasty coffee and capucinnos - available anytime unparalleled and extremely generous. Most other hotels either serve nescafe or charge for a mediocre cappucino. Breakfast has great assortment of fruit and fresh baked treats, yogurt, salads, etc. After touring for part if the day it was a pleaseure coming back to hang out on their deck overlooking the Bosphorus and stretch out to read or snooze for a while and get re-charged to go out again. We stayed in the family room and the beds were good. The room was a little tight for 4 to live out of suitcases for a few days but it was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Several laptops were always available with internet access.

What a warm welcome we received!! Houssein and his colleague are really good hosts!! He even stayed up for us when we came home late from a Turkish wedding. The first few days it was raining cats and dogs, but staying at hotel Sebnem felt like staying in a sunny paradise. Everybody was so friendly. The breakfast is really superb. I gained 2 kilo's in 1 week. Thanks a lot! :-) Hotel Sebnem is located perfectly for the main highlights in Istanbul. The cozy street around the corner offers you everything a thirsty and hungry person needs. We absolutely will come back!

We have stayed in Istanbul before, but this was a real find - a home away from home. A small hotel with friendly and very helpful staff. An excellent location close to the major tourist attractions of Topkapi, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Cistern, etc, and an easy stroll to the Covered Bazaar and the tram line which runs over the Galata Bridge and on to Dolmabahce Palace. Rooms are very well maintained with all basic facilities. Breakfast on the roof terrace was a highlight, with freshly squeezed fruit juice, wide and plentiful choices at buffet breakfast, and great views over the Bosphorus. We did not want to leave!
