Owner description: Famed architect Sinan built this majestic structure for one of the greatest rulers of the Ottoman Empire. Although this mosque is less ornate, there are many similarities between it and the Hagia Sophia since the same architect was responsible for both.

My son Kyle thought that this Mosque was the most beautiful one in Istanbul.

The clean simplicity of the interior decorations are what we loved most versus the ostentatiousness of the other Mosques and the great architect Sinan built it.

Go in the afternoon and you'll get great sunlight shining through the windows and light up the domes.

We took the tram and walked up the hill to the Faith Mosque and then walked by the aqueducts to get here.

Enjoyed the walk from the grand bazaar to the mosque. Was definitely worth the visit very peaceful inside. Excellent courtyard and a really good view of the city and the sea from the corner of the courtyard.

My husband and I enjoyed this so much more than the Blue Mosque. Fewer people, much more serene, and while you still must follow the protocol, the people that were enforcing the dress etc. were not as militant. We also really loved the interior much more than the Blue Mosque. Also, this is where Sulieman and Roxelana are buried and it was an added interest to view their mausoleums. If you pick one mosque in Istanbul, go to this one! Really lovely.

It's breathtaking both inside the main building and outside in the garden behind the mosque. Must see.

We visited 4 mosques in Istanbul, every one was unique and provided a different perspective on history, religion, and the Turkish people. Not as crowded as the Blue Mosque, this is truly beautiful and quiet. We went to the tombs, serene with mostly Turkish people visiting and meditating briefly. Inside the mosque, behind the women's screen, we could see women sitting with each other quietly talking and praying. One of the best things about travel, is seeing how other people live, eat, and worship. We had a private guide who provided much insight into Suleymaniye and why he is truly magnificent. It's a bit off the beaten path but worth the effort.
