Owner description: Famed architect Sinan built this majestic structure for one of the greatest rulers of the Ottoman Empire. Although this mosque is less ornate, there are many similarities between it and the Hagia Sophia since the same architect was responsible for both.

So much better than the blue Mosque. do not approach from the Spice Museum - it is like climbing Everest! Approach it from the Grand Bazaar to avoid the hike. The mosque is the biggest in Istanbul and is atmospheric inside. We were lucky enough to still be on the hill at the call to prayer and it was an awesome experience as you could hear all of the other mosques within the city and the combined sound was phenonomal

Fewer people than the Blue Mosque or New Mosque, it's huge and beautiful. It's definitely worth the long walk up the hill.

An absolute must in Istanbul! Very pleasant to visit because it is very quiet and one gets enough room to walk around, unlike in Blue Mosque for example. Lovely especially after the buzz of the nearby noisy bazaars.

It is quite pretty and quick, just an in and out kinda place.
They give you robes/scarves if you are inappropriately dressed, so don't worry if you are in shorts and a singlet.
Even if there is a queue it won't take long as it's very quick moving
