A great stay in Istanbul made all the more enjoyable as the Erguvan was an excellent choice. Convenient location; helpful friendly staff; very comfortable beds; immaculate sheets and bath towels; hot water never in short supply and copious breakfast to look forward to.

Room Tip: We had a room at the back overlooking small courtyard and it was quiet apart from inevitable general...

We had a wonderful stay at the Erguvan Hotel in Istanbul. Great location near the old town (10 min walk). Situated in a quiet neighborhood. The staff was always friendly and accommodating. The rooms and hotel were very clean. And, the breakfast was good. The only negative is that I wish the internet had a wireless signal in the rooms. We had to come down to the lobby each time just to check email or update Facebook. Nevertheless, I highly recommend Erguvan Hotel. And, I know the next time we come to Istanbul we will stay there again.

My girlfriend and I very recently stayed in the Erguvan and while it lacks the flash of more upmarket hotels is excellent value in a great location. The staff were accommodating, pleasant and always able to advise us on the best places to visit in the city. Be sure to get the breakfast, food is decent and you can take it in the rooftop restaurant that has amazing views of the bopshorus or the blue mosque if you want to sit on the terrace. Also don't be put off visiting Istanbul in general because of the 'demonstrations' that one hears about recently in the news, locals say they are limited and confined to the North of the city.

Lastly, yellow cabs (as long as you haggle and set the price) can be far cheaper than the airport shuttles to and from the hotel. Taking a yellow cab to the hotel we payed 45lira and back to the airport it was 50, whereas the shuttle companies on average quote 80 for each trip. Of course this is down to a personnel budget but may be helpful if you are closely watching your spending.

Happy Holidays

My wife and I made the booking on-line and had to postpone the trip from June to Dec, and even then I had to extend one day as I had a last minute business trip requiring more stay in Istanbul.
The staff were very accommodating and did the necessary changes. The hotel has a very welcoming warm and homey atmosphere. They were all just great, they go out of their way to make the guest feel welcome.

In particular, Chilan was very kind to us as she explained to us meticulously how to move around and was very helpful in more than one occasion. She even helped us carry the bags to our room. So thank you Chilan (sorry, I probably spelled your name wrong) and the rest of Erguvan family.

Cleanliness is first class, the proximity is just great as it is walking distance to the hipodrome, blue mosque, aya sofia, great restaurants, cafes, dessert places bazars, the basilica cisterns and much more.
The breakfast is good as it has good selection of local cheese varieties, reads, cereals, milk, coffee and tea vegetables, yogurt, marmalade assortment, compotes, pastries, spreads and precooked sausage and scrambled eggs. There are no live stations as the dining room is rather small with limited tables but the view is great as it overlooks the waterfront.
The shuttle to and from the airport was arranged by the hotel staff but it must be paid separately in cash as it is handled by a separate company.
If we go back to Istanbul this is where we would like to stay that's for sure. It is so homey, so clean and so warm..

We have mixed feelings about this hotel. The location and general ambience, as well as value for money, was certainly a big attraction for us. The staff is friendly and welcoming, but we wish they could be more firm in enforcing the hotel policies in dealing with unruly and difficult hotel guests. Turkey is a unique country for everyone to enjoy and we wish the Turkish culture and the way of life would be respected by everyone coming to visit, both Westerners and visitors from the Middle East.
The rooms are well appointed, spacious and well lit, some of them have great views of Sultanahmet. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had a nice shower.
Breakfast was okay, but it would probably be better if the food was kept refrigerated rather than sitting out for a few hours. Some guests should also be considerate and avoid feeding the seagulls that snatch anything left on the open terrace tables.
All in all, good experience and we hope to stay there again next time we visit Istanbul.

I was here with my friend and had an absolutely great time! Great location within walking distance of many sites and attractions. Staff was great and always very helpful. Gave us some great tips as to things to see and places to visit, and were more than happy to help us find our way. Even went so far as to book tours or transportation. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a convenient and quiet place!
