The Hotel is in a central location close to Hagia Sofia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace. The service was excellent, the staff in particular Samir the receptionist was very helpful, polite and friendly. The room I had was actually very good for a family - a double room attached to a room with 2 single beds. Book here and you wont be dissapointed. By the way there are restaurants along the same street as well as general stores.

This was our second stay at the Hippodrome having spent a few days there in early 2009. We really liked it then given its perfect location, reasonable rooms and great value - and this time it was no different. If you're after a no-hassle, value place in the centre of the Sultanahmet area it's hard to go past the Hippodrome. Special mention for the fantastic buffet breakfasts at the sister hotel just down the road.

The hotel is located in Sultanahmet and within easy walking distance of all major attractions. It is just off the main street and very quiet at night - we were able to sleep with our windows open no problem.

The hotel itself is spotlessly clean, rooms large by European standards. Bed mattress and linens of excellent quality. Lots of hot water; towels thick and lush and changed daily. In-room coffee and tea; mini fridge and hairdryer as well.

Front desk staff - both the day and night gentlemen, are very helpful and knowledgeable and able to accommodate most needs.

I did a lot of research into hotels before choosing the Hippodrome (there are so many to choose from) and am very glad we settled on the Hippodrome. I would highly recommend it!

what can I say even from the first greeting by Samir I knew we had chosen the perfect place for our trip to Istanbul and it progressed from better to the best.
to say the least we were made to feel that this was our home in Istanbul and even the people in the surrounding area made us feel so welcome. Without doubt would return time and again to this hotel.

I travelled here over the valentines weekend with my girlfriend for a sightseeing getaway. I chose the hotel for it location in the heart of the Sultanahmet district. Very glad I did now as we had an excellent trip, facilitated by the hotel.

The service we received was excellent, from first arrival to check out. Many thanks to Samir at the front desk who made our stay very pleasant with his advice and friendly demeanour. The other staff were equally as helpful, and always willing to try and overcome any language barrier.

The room itself was lovely. With the price paid I wasn't expecting a lot, but the room was furnished with authentic local decoration, and was well maintained and clean (as was all of the hotel). From our room's balcony we could see the magnificent Blue Mosque, and we had a view out over the sea of Marmora. Whilst I appreciate not everyone will have this, all the rooms we saw seemed spacious and well cared for.

The hotel is spread over two sites along the same street, with breakfast and meals provided from another hotel further along. We had breakfast included, which was well worth it. Running from 0730 to 1030, the timings are perfect for sightseers wanting an early start, or for those wanting a more relaxed morning. The food is standard fare, and it keeps you going until lunch.

It is worth noting again the excellent location of the hotel. A five minute walk to the nearest tram stop and the Blue Mosque. The Aya Sofia, Topkapi Palace and the Basilica Cistern are all within ten minutes walking distance, and once you are on the tram, you have access to the whole of the city.

My least favourite part of the hotel was the lack of a lift to the top floor where we were located... it would have been much treasured after a day's sightseeing! It could also be a little noisy on the street below, but this is part and parcel of being in a busy district.
