“Great stay in a great hotel.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 May 2014

Vacationing with his family in Historia Hotelels in late April 4 nights. All very much. Location of the hotel - great. Hotel staff are friendly and always willing to help. Well-organized transfer to the airport and back. The room has everything you need, comfortable beds, TV, table and chairs and another (the room was for 4 people). Handy makers and complimentary water, coffee, sugar. I will recommend this hotel to my friends.

Plenty of positives, primarily the fantastic location (as described by many other reviewers), the charming, friendly and extremely obliging staff, the general cleanliness of the place and the comfortable bed.

However, having read so many rave reviews on Tripadvisor, I have to admit we were rather disappointed. Maybe we expected too much. Having paid a €20 per night supplement for a balcony and sea view, we were taken to room 601 where there was barely room to walk round the bed, virtually no storage space and nowhere to put our suitcase. In fairness, we were moved immediately (to 506), without a quibble, when we told the receptionist how disappointed we were, but the 'sea view' from the room was a glimpse of the sea in the distance and not something I would have paid extra for, had I known.

Our room was adequate but could have done with some refurbishment, particularly the carpet. The furnishing was fairly random and outdated but the bed (a standard double) was very comfortable. The bathroom too could have done with a facelift. There was a permanent 'drainy' smell and, importantly, no extractor fan or other means of ventilation.

We weren't keen on the breakfast, though other reviewers clearly were. There was, admittedly, a generous amount on offer but the selection wasn't for us. The killer blow was that the coffee was weak and tasted like instant and the orange 'juice' was suspiciously like orange squash.

A final, but important, thing to bear in mind is that the walls were very thin and we could hear conversation, coughing, flushing, etc. from the neighbouring room. In 506, the pipes were also noisy during the night. If you're a light sleeper, I'd recommend ear plugs.

Our fourth trip to Istanbul and the Hotel Historia and we can not say enough about the kindness of the staff , cleanliness of the rooms and warm welcome we received. Breakfast is great. We have recommended Historia Hotel to many of our friends as it is so central for the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Agia Sofia, The Cisterns , tram ways and so much more. There is a great street just a short walk away that has several restaurants/bars to choose from and ideal for a cosy meal after spending the day sight seeing.

The historia hotel is a very wonderful hotel in the middle of Sultanahmet! Sultanahmet is very nice! You have many tourist attractions in this quarter for example the blue mosque or the hagia sophia. For me was Sultanahmet like the heart of Istanbul. The location from the historia hotel is absolutely a dream. You are very fast in every quarter of the city and it's not loud, it's very quietly! The historia team is very friendly! I have never been to Istanbul before and the receptionist took time for explain us the different ways to the tourist attractations, restaurant etc. We wanted to learn a little bit turkish and the waiter cetin was very friendly and helped us to learn a little bit turkish.

Now, I recommend you to choose the historia hotel for you stay in Istanbul! You don't regret it! Believe me! :-)

To the historia team:

Her şey için teşekkür ederim
(Thank you for everything)

The hotel was recommended to us by previous guests and did not disappoint. The location is excellent with many of the main attractions within walking distance. Our room, while not spacious was clean and comfortable with a balcony with views over both Bosphorus and the main street. The manager and all staff were extremely friendly and helpful and contributed a greast deal to making our stay a pleasant one. We had problems with luggage not arriving at the airport and they sorted this out quickly and efficiently. Nothing was too much trouble from recommending restaurants to booking tickets. Breakfast offered a wide choice of excellent food and the outside eating area was pleasant. We would happily return and recommend the hotel to others.

Room Tip: A room on the top floor with views over the Bosphorus and a balcony.

I stayed at this hotel Sunday, March 9 - Wednesday, March 12 in a quad room. Our room had two twin beds and one queen bed. It was a lot of furniture in one room (there was a cute little seating area with two chairs and a table) but it worked for us. The bathroom was a little cramped but I was expecting that. The staff was super friendly and helpful when we needed recommendations or directions. The hotel was clean and the breakfast was decent - there were many options for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. The best part about the hotel is the location. It is such a short walk to everything you want to see - the Arasta Bazaar, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the streetcar. We were there during a very rainy season and the hotel provided umbrellas if needed. The call to prayer was barely heard from our hotel unless we left the windows open at night and the train outside our window was really quiet. For the price, the location and the comfort of the rooms, I really couldn't have asked for a better hotel. Would definitely recommend this to friends or future travelers to the area.

Room Tip: If you have four guests, the quad room is an excellent choice. We had a room facing the back of the...

We spent a great long weekend in Istanbul without any regrets regarding our choice to stay at Historia Hotel. We found everything as advertised – even the airport pick-up service was easy despite our delayed arrival. The hotel is quite, clean, with extremely friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast is included and offers a variety of choices, including fresh omelets and fruits. The location is also excellent, only a few minutes away from the famous Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia as well as a tram stop that brings you down to the Bosporus. We had a great time and would definitely come back!
