“Good location and friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2011

We chose this hotel as we had visited their Pasazade Restaurant on a previous visit to Istanbul. Ottoman food which is delicious and very well priced. We were not dissapointed. On arrival whilst reception staff were doing the check in procedure, we were given iced tea and were shown on a map places we hadn't been to, the easiest ways to get to them and prices!
Our room was spotlessly clean but we found our kettle didn't work, within 5 minutes a replacement was brought to our room. There is air con which is independent in each room (not governed by reception as many are.) The staff couldn't do enough for us and so may our stay extremely enjoyable. This is now the only hotel we will use when next in Istanbul. There is a free safe in each room and also free Wifi connection in the bedrooms. There are also two computers in the lobby that can be used free of charge.
Check out time is midday but they have a locked secure room where luggage can be left until you are ready to depart.
Full marks.

The service and rooms were of good quality. There is free use of computers and wifi in the rooms 24 hours. Room service is limited but still available.

Good points:
- Relatively good price for the comfort
- Friendly staff and porters
- Very good restaurant upstairs on the terrace (make sure to book)
- Very good location, close to a tram stop and barely 5 minutes walk to Topkapi and the Hippodrome (centre for attractions such as Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque).

Bad points:
- My room didn't really have any view and looked dated.
- TV was an old and small CRT
- No Shampoo (but had small soap dispenser)
- no other toiletries provided
- Ordered sausages and chips for 9TL (thinking of Turkish Sausages) and received spam and french fries with ketchup
- Hot menu on breakfast could have been better (just chips, scrambled eggs, spam and hard boiled eggs)

Having stayed in 4 different hotels in Istanbul between May and July 2011, I can say for sure the best of them all was Erboy. Location is excellent for main attractions. Room and bathroom a little small, but absolutely clean! You have complimentary tea and coffee facilities in the room.We were very pleased to have had an early check-in, as demanded (around 10:30). I would certainly recommend this hotel as it is very good value for money.

I stayed at the hotel for 4 days to visit Istanbul and this hotel is a good choice since all main attractions (Topkapi, Hagya Sophia, Bosphorus shore, Grand Bazar) can be reached in 15 minutes on foot. The hotel is very clean and well run, my room was a standard room so size was quite small but facilities were enough and in good order (Air con, Tv, Coffee Maker) and the bathroom spotless clean. Breakfast was very varied, really a plus since Turkish food is delicious. Staff was gentle, ready to give information about the city and its attractions. 2 really nice restaurants, especially the roof top one with a view on the Bosphorus. Will go back for my next visit of this really beautiful city.

Room Tip: Standard room are quite small, fine for me solo traveller. Get a deluxe if you can if travelling wit...

Overall a good stay. The shower drain plugged up, but they fixed it immediately. Above average breakfast. Best of all, however, is a great location for all the tourist sites. I recommend this hotel and would stay again.

This was our third visit to the Erboy Hotel. We were so happy with the value, service and location on our first visit that we have been back twice. The Erboy is the only central Istanbul hotel we have stayed in and have no reason to consider any other in future.

We were picked up from the airport by a driver waiting with a name card. This transfer service (free if you book direct and stay a certain number of nights) was very welcome after a long journey and the struggle to get through the airport formalities. Tip: keep some one Lira coins for the airport trolleys. The hotel also offer a free) dinner in their highly rated Pasazade restaurant (if you book direct and stay a certain number of nights).

This time we had two rooms, both of which were of a good size and very clean. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job of keeping them clean and tidy. We were so impressed by them that we left some tips.

Everything worked properly. The air conditioning was very good in both rooms and definitely needed at this time of year.

Value – I think this hotel represents excellent value as a good three star hotel close to the main tourist attractions and the tram system. It certainly had all the facilities we wanted.
Service - The reception staff spoke very good English and have always been very helpful. Sinan even managed to cope with my sense of humour and the Customer Services Manager, Ayse - was, as always, extremely helpful and she never stopped smiling!
Since our previous visit, tea and coffee facilities have been provided in rooms, which was a very welcome addition.

In the total of about 3 weeks we have stayed here on the three occasions, we have never had any serious issue or complaint and anything we raised with the hotel was dealt with quickly. For example, we asked for some plates and they arrived within a few minutes.

Location – we like the location. It is not in the noisy area of Sultanahmet but the Blue Mosque and the Aya Sophia are only about 10 minutes walk up a gentle slope. The Topkapi Palace is about 10 minutes away if you don’t mind a steep incline or about 20 minutes using a much gentler route going around the Aya Sofia. The tram station is about two minutes away. The docks for the ferries are about 10 minutes walk away. The Spice Bazaar about 15 minutes walk and the Grand Bazaar about 10 minutes by tram. There are shops and restaurants nearby.

In summary, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. If we return to Istanbul again, we would stay here without question.
