This was the third time we stayed at this comfortable, clean, centrally situated hotel. It is a real gem right in the centre of historic Istanbul.A very helpful staff who went out of their way to make us very welcome H &S Edinburgh Scotland

Room Tip: Any room at the side is quieter but all rooms are fine

When I got ready to go to bed there was only a sheet over the mattress. In all of the other Turkish hotels that I've been in this week there were two sheets-one for below and one above. I called to ask for a sheet and they argued that the white bed cover was the top sheet. They brought an extra sheet after I argued that the white bedspread was too rough to be a cotton sheet. The bed was also hard -- so I guess they don't get many princess-and-the-pea guests.
From the bathroom in my room it sounds like water dripping on the ceiling or when someone is taking a shower it sounds like rain is hitting my ceiling or the plumbing has broken. That needs some sound insulation because the aluminum ceiling seems to amplify the sound. Wifi has been working well -- but I had to call the operator to get the access because at check-in when we asked they said "it is your passport" - and I didn't think that was correct. Finally, when I have had to ask, staff has been abrupt (treatment has not been as courteous as I'd hoped for, given the very courteous behavior that I've received thus far in other parts of Turkey),

Great little hotel and a great value at 60 euros. Nice staff, clean, cheap and cheerful. It is centrally located near Cemberlitas tramway that runs right to the harborside and all of the main sites. It is located approximately 250 meters from the Hagia Sophia.

Room Tip: all the rooms are good.

Six of stayed here and had mixed reactions but mostly liked it, some of us very much. With a great location, we never bought bus or rail tickets to reach popular local attractions, saving us money. We thought the staff was quick to respond to requests and readily available. All six of us were content with their free breakfast. The beds were average, but bearable. Transportation to and from the main airport was well-managed, also. I would stay here again.

We stayed in Santa Sophia hotel for 6 days. The staff is friendly, rooms are clean and cozy. The location is great - very close to Grand Bazaar, Topkapi Palace, Basilica, Blue Mosque and other places of interest.

If you are wanting to see the spectacular sites of old Istanbul then this hotel is perfectly situated. All you need to see, including the Bosphorus, is within easy walking distance. Set in a narrow street it is a short walk to the top of the hill where the tram line passes, so wherever you are if you find this it is easy to follow it back to the hotel. The staff are gentle and friendly and the rooms clean. The first two nights we were put into a rather small room but without asking we were moved to a bigger one for the rest of the stay. Rooms overlooking the front are probably noisy in the early mornings, rooms overlooking the side street would probably be the best but there was not one for us. The other rooms overlook the central well of the building which is where we were. The sunlight does not come in here, but it is pretty quiet, apart from the continuous sound of a generator which did not take long to get used to. The breakfast is great - plenty of it and all sorts. A buffet so you can eat as much as you want. There is a spacious foyer which is cool and quiet and a member of staff will bring you apple tea if you ask. Also they have a deal with one or two restaurants where a driver will pick you up and take you home for free. We went to one in the old fish market, a street of lanterns and restaurants which you might glimpse as your airport taxi swings into the old city. Ask for their airport taxi service to collect you - 45eus both ways. Much easier than finding a bus to Taksim square then having to get a taxi from there anyway. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again if I visit again.

We arranged to see the sights and sounds of Istanbul for 1 week in June. The hotel is conveniently situated in the old part of Sultanamet near all the usual tourist attractions. Our room was clean but dark and dingy. The small little tv hardly worked. There was one skimpy little blanket on the bed. The breakfast was a daily offering of the same unimaginative fare day after day. And for those of you who are not the chit chat kind, this is a good place because the hotel staff never once recognized our presence in their hotel. They were the least friendly staff in any hotel I have ever stayed in.
