“Elegant in a great location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 October 2013

This is a real find in a trendy Istanbul neighborhood, close to shops and plenty of good restaurants. My room was a blend of old world charm and modern convenience. Clean and fairly spacious and while I was right in front of the elevator it was very, very quiet.
Friendly, gracious staff eager to practice their English -- since I know only a few words in Turkish -- and helpful with directions to various sites around town. The rooftop bar offers a sweeping view of the city and water. A pleasant spot for cocktail hour and breakfast.

Simplicity is the key here: an old house converted into a plain but memorable hotel in the heart of Pera, for those who do not care so much for comfort but seek a sense of belonging into this magnificent city. Settle in and treat it like the house of a beloved aunt. Before setting out and walking around, spend a few moments beside the window beside the steps that lead down to the Golden Horn, and overhear the whispers in order to get a sense of the city's inner secrets.

Room Tip: Naturally, the one with the big window above the steps

Convenient location in the Beyoglu area. Walking distance to Galata Tower. It is also walkable to Taksim Square. Unique hotel converted from a private mansion.

There are trendy bars and restaurants next to the hotel. It can be noisy on evenings but love the location.

We had recently a 6 day stay in Istanbul. The position which close to the Galata tower is very good to make any kind of tour in Istanbul. We started every morning with the wonderful view over Eminöy from the hotel restaurant on top of the building. We enjoyed very much the individual flaw of this hotel which gave us from the beginning to the end a good connection to Istanbul.
Especially we loved the 'insider' tips and informations about evrything from Vedat Karakas. He was running the night reception in the hotel whilst our stay. Thanks Vedat for this engagement!
If we have the hance to come back we will choose the hotel again!

It has been a long a while since I stayed at this hotel, but my experience there is well reserved in my head! I stayed there several times and every time I was impressed by how clean and comfortable the place is. A tiny place in general, with small rooms, but very clean, located in a prime location at the end of Istiklal street, and features beautiful antique furniture.

The Galata Antique Hotel in Istanbul is a modest, comfortable hotel near the Galata Tower in the Beyoglu Quarter. The staff is helpful, breakfast room has a beautiful view, and breakfast buffet is good. Access to the beginning of the Istiklal Caddesi or the railway crossing to the Golden Horn are close by. The neighborhood offers many restaurants and historical sites including the Pera Palas Hotel which opened in 1892 to serve travelers on the Orient Express, churches, shopping, and an old-fashioned tram runs the length of Istiklal Caddesi.
This hotel is in the city so it can be noisy.

Room Tip: Street noise and construction nearby may distrupt sleep. Take earplugs.

This hotel is based in an 1881 building in the Galata Part of town, directly on Sishane metrostation and the beginning of Istiklal shopping street to Taksim. It's a classique stately building with small but nicely decorated rooms. Staff is friendly, the breakfast is decent and served on a roof terrace, where you can make friends with the seagulls who are looking for a piece of your food.
There are some flaws too. I had a power breakdown the first morning, so no light or hot water, and subsequently the hot water was off for two days. The friendly staff offered some compensation (fruit basket and free transfer to the airport). One very strange thing was that the door of the shower cabin opened to the inside, so you had to stand close to the wall to close the door. This is even dangerous; suppose you get a fall or a heart attack, then you are locked in.
So, despite the qualities and the beauty of the building, I would recommend another hotel for Istanbul
