“Nice place.”
Reviewed 4 February 2014

Friendly staff, clean and nice rooms, lots of restaurants in the same street, but quiet at night. Swimming pool and sauna are available till 9.30 pm. Great and safe location, all turistic attractions are nearby; Parking place is in the next street.

The Hotel Sapphire is a good value in a convenient location. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating with anything you might need. The rooms are quite comfortable and roomy. They provide a varied breakfast buffet with cooked to order eggs. There are many restaurants around the hotel. The tourist sites are within walking distance and a tram stop is about a block away. The hotel can arrange transportation to and from the airport. We stayed 3 nights and received compliment at one way transportation.

This hotel is so good I almost do not wish to share it. The location is ideal - quiet but central. It is only about 5 minutes walk from the tram and all the main sights are easily accessible. The hotel sent a car to collect me from the airport and on arrival was made to feel most welcome. My room was on an upper floor and was modest in size but had everything that I could need including tea and coffee facilities. From my window you could just espy the Bosphorous. Everything was spotlessly clean and I slept very well. One tiny point - the bath tub was very high for elderly people to get in and it would be easy to slip. Be careful! Breakfast was excellent and is included in the price. The Buffet was most interesting and set me up for the day. The receptionists could not have been more pleasant or helpful. Be aware that you will be accosted by every restaurant that you pass which can be tedious after a while. There is a wonderful pool and steam room in the basement - just the thing after a day's sightseeing or shopping! All in all the hotel is excellent by any standards and gives superb value for money. I will simply not stay anywhere else again and if they are full I shall not go! I have never been in a hotel where they give you presents on departure. I felt welcome and respected. I'll be back and soon.

I´am really sure that all was written here: great and quiet location in the heart of Sultanahmed, very close to all historical points, very clean rooms, friendly staff, great breakfast, very good restaurants in this area. We were here in the end of November for 5 days and we can recommend to stay here.

Hi, We stayed at this hotel from 28th December - 2nd Jan 2014.

The hotel is very central to all the major tourist attractions and is surrounded by restaurants all of which sell traditional Turkish food. The tram is a two minute walk away and provides a very good service for 3 Lira per ride.

There are a couple of negative points about the Hotel:-

The hotel, although is clean and tidy the decor and fittings are all very tired, this is both in the communal areas and in the rooms (which are very small).

breakfast is a good selection of Turkish cuisine, however, very little in the way of continental food. The crockery is now of unusable quality and it was difficult to fine a plate with out chips or cracks as were the cups.

Wifi is free to use but very, slow and keeps loosing connectivity.

I suppose you get what you pay for, so in summary the positives out weigh the negatives and I would consider this hotel, should I ever return, this is purely because of the location.

One of the nicest things about the Hotel Sapphire in Istanbul is it's location. Situated just a few blocks off the tram line, on a pedestrian only street, it is certainly easy to access all of the historical sites you will want to see. Istanbul is nothing if not busy. With 15,000,000 residents and tons of tourists it is wonderful to have a hotel where there is no traffic. And, you can easily walk to the Sistern, Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. For destinations a bit further away, the tram is only about 3 blocks away. The four or five block area around the hotel is all pedestrian and full of many dine outside restaurants. They all have inside dining as well but move tables and chairs out into the streets for you to enjoy. Very nice. My wife really liked the breakfast buffet. I thought it was so so. The service is great and the staff is very helpful. I would totally recommend this hotel. It's a great value for the price.

Room Tip: We had a nice room on the 5th floor facing the Bosphorus.
