“Very helpful staff, great location”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

The Staff is very helpful, giving advice, when asked, abut restaurants, attractions, tours. The hotel is in a wonderful location, within walking distance of many attractions in the old city. The street on which the hotel is located is closed to traffic, so there are restaurants with outdoor tables, many of which are very good- but ask the hotel staff. The wireless was the strongest that we found in that region of Europe or the Middle East. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. We would definitely stay there again if we returned to Istanbul.

Room Tip: Our room was on the back, overlooking a courtyard, and was very quiet.

What a fabulous weekend staying in Hotel Sapphire, Istanbul. The staff were so welcoming, friendly and helpful throughout our stay, making a first time trip for us 3 girls a really wonderful occasion. Gifts on arrival and departure, clean rooms, great advice on trips and restaurants and getting around the city - and only a few steps away from some really nice restaurants - a really brilliant weekend, made to feel like 'home from home' by all of the staff. Would highly recommend staying here. The location is great in Sultanahmet - only a short walk to the Sultanahmet (Blue) mosque, Haghia Sophia, Topkapi palace, the Hippodrome and obelisks, Grand Bazaar and Spice Bazaar. And the Senkron Travel agency were great for guided tours - well organised and friendly service - and organised through the Hotel. Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Either side of the Hotel was quiet as it is sheltered from traffic on either side. There is a pool a...

We chose this hotel based on reviews and price, and were not disappointed. The location was fantastic, we were able to walk easily to all the great sights of the old city, and it was nice to be in a pedestrianised street. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was very clean, the beds were extremely comfortable and the breakfast buffet offered a vast choice. We have booked there again for our return to Istanbul at the end of our holiday.

My first impression was great, we were very well revived with a glass of juice a Turkish delight and a little blue eye for protection. Everything was clean and looking neat, the pool has some limestone on the walls but that is due to the quality of the water of Istanbul. (Don't drink water). I lost count of how many teas they offered while we chatted at the lobby. And the recommended some nice places to go to as well. One day my key card got stolen from the swimming pool, the staff helped me straight away and canceled the stolen keycard and reassured me they have surveillance cameras in the halls so if anyone tried to break into my room they wold know. It is very close to Sultanhamet where you can find the Hagia Sofia and the Blue Mosque. I defiantly recommend the Sapphire.

The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. We were 3 couples staying 6 nights and my request for 3 double bed rooms was fulfilled when we arrived. Wireless in the rooms but the signal is not very strong. I had trouble connecting with iPhone and had to stand by the door but Samsung worked fine anywhere in the room. Breakfast buffet has very good selection. The fact it doesn't change much is no problem.
All rooms seem to have building views only but it was not problem for us. Small rooms but this is normal in the old town. There is a construction site right next but the working hours are ~9am-7pm when we were there so no noise at night.
We stayed at the second floor and I only heard the 5am morning prayers 1 time. I was positively surprised about that.
It was my brothers birthday while we stayed here and we were allowed to bring our own champagne to the breakfast and the hotel staff still gave us proper glasses. nice one!
The hotel has a sauna and indoor pool for free use and a Turkish bath for a charge. We didn't try it.
Excellent location - walking distance to all major attractions. 3-5 minutes to Topkapi Palace, 5-10 min to Hagia Sophia and Basilika Cistern, 10 min to Spice market. 15min to Blue mosque and Grand Bazaar. 2 minutes to Gülhane tram station. Right next to the hotel are many other hotels and also the Dejavu/New Hatay restaurant. It looks very inviting and we had drinks there almost every night and dinner on the last night. I can recommend it.

I can only agree with most other reviewers in that this is an excellently located hotel for all the major sites, the rooms are very agreeable and so are the staff. HOWEVER, the food lets it down; boring, bland and unimaginative. Our party was late arriving on the first evening and dinner was served at about 9.30p.m. Imagine how we felt to be offered cold sprouts as 1 course, and tepid meat as another. Not a good introduction to Turkish food! Unfortunately things didn't improve much over the following 2 days and even breakfast was a hit and miss affair. Such a shame but there is a good restaurant just yards away on the corner, so go for it!

Great location, 5 min walk to lots of sites and only 10 to the Grand Bazaar and spice markets.

Plenty of yummy places to eat near by and very friendly and helpful staff at reception.

A 10min walk to Galata bridge where the fish roll is a must to try!
