“great hotel”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

1. right in the middle of the tourist action...5-10 minute walk to the big 4: blue mosque, hagia, topkapi, and cistern
2. great staff
3. great breakfast room epitomizing the turkish concept of a inviting friends over for a breakfast
4. good sized room (we had a problem with the sink and they fixed it while we were out)
5. even a gift when we left.

ps i have one recommendation..once a day one of their lobby boys can do a run to the PTT for postcards guests may wish to send..

We just returned form our 6 country 17 days Europe yesterday. Our first stop was Istanbul and Hotel Sapphire. The hotel is located in a very very convenient place. We are retired couple aged 72 and 69. We visited almost all important places like Topkapy palace, Hagia Irene, Archaeological Museum, Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Mosaic Mosque Basilica Cistern, Hippodrome on the first day by walk. The hotel is only 5 Mins away from Topkapi and all others in walking distance of less than 200 Mts. The hotel is very clean, Breakfast was superb, the customer service is excellent. The hotel Managers were all very nice, hospitable and extremely helpful. In the evening just 5 mins walk to the the Galata bridge. One can relax along the banks. We were very impressed and happy that we selected this hotel and the reviews on the TripAdvisor did not fail us. The hotel provided a shuttle service to the airport and a taxi service which we used. All in all we strongly recommend this hotel which is very budget friendly and provided luxury service. WiFi was very fast. In short this is a very convenient, low budget, luxury hotel . We stayed form 11th to 14th of July.

My wife and I stayed for 12 days during our extended visit to Istanbul. Booking directly with the hotel was very easy and offered a great value. The staff was friendly, responsive and helpful in all aspects of the visit. On one evening we were having trouble understanding where to go for our restaurant reservation and the main desk person had a staff member walk us there. The beds were comfortable and the A/C was a welcomed relief from the hot Istanbul summer.

It is hard to imagine a better location. The hotel is on a quiet street with new vehicle thoroughfare. It is within walking distance of the major Old City Sultanahmet sites, the ferry docks on the Golden Horn, the Sirkeci train station, cand the Spice Market. The tram is 2 blocks from the hotel making it easy inexpensive and easy to access the Grand Bizarre and the New City. Within two blocks there are 5 restaurants in the 110 T/A Top Restaurants (out of nearly 11,000), all of which we tried and enjoyed.

Istanbul hotels take pride in their breakfasts and Hotel Sapphire is no exception. For the life of me, I cannot understand criticisms about the breakfast. It was sumptuous and extensive with a wide range of choices, well over 150 fresh and varied items as well as an omelette chef.

And the prices are extremely reasonable for the service, location, and breakfast. I think I have never had a better value in all of my many years of travel.

Location is amazing, very central and easy access with tram everywhere!
Buffet breakfast had a great selection plus a person who makes eggs to your request!
Rooms are smaller, but they tell you that before you book as you are in the old part of town.
Service-they treat you with kindness, respect as you are their friend. Nothing is too hard for them. Honestly would reccommend to family and friends! :)

Hotel advantages
- location
- location
- location

I don't think there is nothing more you can add maybe that the staff is very friendly (but like in the most of the hotels)

Hotel disadvantages
- noisy (you can hear your neighbors and everything they do)
- tiny rooms
- "crazy" elevator
- basic breakfast (choice is ok ish, quality is questionable)

Room Tip: Don't have any tips for the rooms all of them are small and noisy!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our week long trip to Istanbul thanks in large part to the Sapphire hotel. It is situated in the old city and is relatively small as compared to the hotel chains but it is charming, clean, the staff are friendly and breakfast is excellent. The rooms are fairly small but certainly adequate. Being in the old city is a huge advantage since you are in walking distance to all the sights. It is also close to the tram which can take you over to the more modern part of Istanbul. There are also lots of restaurants in the immediate area that were terrific and inexpensive.

The location is great for visiting Istanbul for first time, with most of the touristic objectives in walking distance.
The personnel was helpful and kind and the services were more than good.
The breakfast combined wonderfully local and European foods.
