This was our second stay at the Tashkonak, we had been in 2010, and when we were planning our trip back to Istanbul, it was a no brainer to stay at this hotel again. Our stay the first time was such a great experience, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the hotel is near many great sites, and restaurants. We took advantage of the deck on the roof in the evening, as well as the courtyard off the reception area, great places to sit back and relax. Our friend that was travelling with us had been sitting on the deck around lunch time, and one of the girls that worked at the hotel made him a lunch and brought him tea. The breakfasts are delicious, and have a lot of variety. I'm sure if we make a third trip to Istanbul in the future, my husband and I will be staying at this hotel again.

Together with family and friends we really enjoyed our stay of one week at Tashkonak. The team at reception was really efficient, helpful and friendly. We very much appreciated the warm welcome and atmosphere of the place. The hotel is well situated at walking distance from the historic centre and great places to visit. Our double room was nice and clean. At breakfast, we enjoyed the view from the restaurant and the terrace overlooking the sea, the kindness of the service ladies and we also liked the large choice of jams especially rose jam. We spent a wonderful week in Istanbul and we recommend the Tashkonak hotel and team to any travellers looking for a cheerful place.

Room Tip: higher rooms with sea view are sunny on sunrise.

I recently visited Istanbul with my girlfriend. We needed somewhere to stay for 4 nights which wasn't going to bankrupt us and was within walking distance of all the things we wanted to see (Haghia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar etc etc).

The Tashkonak hotel was great value for money and in a great location: about 3/4 minutes walk from the Sultanahmet square (from the lovely rooftop terrace where they serve breakfast the blue mosque seems pretty much next door)!

The room and general hotel was very nicely decorated (in fact the pictures seemed to slightly under-sell the look), the garden was nice (and backs on to part of a historical city wall) and the shower was hot and powerful.

The staff were also brilliant, the cleaners came in every day and made everything spotless without being too intrusive, the lady serving breakfast was smiley and quick to clean up once people had left and the people working on the desk were great at helping us arrange stuff like transport and a trip along the Bosphorous. For example they made a point of trying to group our transfer to the airport with another family so we would have to pay less (even though we were paying them, not the taxi itself, so they could have saved on costs by grouping us and then still charged us the full amount anyway).

The only down points were that the bed was quite hard and that the breakfast was a little disappointing - UHT milk UGH (but I don't think you would get anything better for breakfast within this sort of price range).

We were looking for a middle priced hotel to stay in for 4 nights, and Tashkonak was excellent. They were exceedingly helpful when we wanted to plan a trip down the Bosphorous, and were always cheerful and friendly. There are stunning views from their rooftop terrace, and a lovely shaded garden to sit in with a cup of tea. It's in a great location for getting to the Blue Mosque, and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby for dinner and lunch. We had a great stay here and would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Staffs are excellent and helpful with warming heart~!I love the terrace of Tashkonak,it has a good view of sea and some interesting places.Breakfast is fabulous as well!Love the special cooking of eggs which is the most popular food,if you get up late you will miss them....LOL
One defect is the room.We booked a three-person room but it seems that the third people have to sleep on the coach-bed...but I can totally understand because the room is for two-person at first.
If I have chances to visit Istanbul I would like to stay in Tashkonak for the very kind and warmhearted people and the best location.
