We had a fantastic three night stay at the Hotel Tashkonak. The hotel was clean, well located in the Sultanahment and really good value. We were really impressed by the friendly team - especially the guy on reception for whom nothing was too much trouble and who gave us lots of good advice on what to do and see and where to eat and drink. We will remember breakfast on the roof terrace - with amazing views! We would definitely recommend the hotel and hope to stay there again when we go back to Istanbul in the future.

Excellent hotel with great location. Little difficult to explain to cab driver to find, but mapquest print out helped a lot. Breakfast was very good and offered more than most hotels in Europe. Staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome from our late arrival (0100) to the dinner show they set up for us. We could not have had a better time on this trip and the hotel and staff played a large part.

Close to everything, helpful English-speaking staff, nice restaurant with a view, and small but nice rooms. One of the better values in Istanbul and probably one of the best places in Sultanahmet for under $100/night.

This hotel is amazing because the staff makes it so. If you're looking for a simple yet sufficient place to stay, look no further. Great food and helpful staff willing to go way out to render help and advice. Low cost and just 15 minutes away from local attractions. They even provide airport transfer.
Highly recommend this place to everyone and should i visit Istanbul again, there is no doubt where i will stay.

We were picked up by the Hotel shuttle and transported directly to the Hotel where we were met by very friendly and helpful staff. The whole feeling in the hotel was very welcoming. I felt that we had stepped back in time a little especially with the decor but was pleasantly surprised that everything worked very well and we slept very comfortably.
Up on the roof terrace where we took breakfast, we were entertained, looking over the rather delapidated rooftops of the neighbourhood, where seagulls were raising their young amongst the fallen down bricks and timbers lying about.
The hotel is very conveniently located for sightseeing and restaurants. We walked through a small bazaar each day full of georgous goods and after being "harrassed" for the first couple of days, we quickly became "one of the family" with the venders who greeted us warmly as we passed. Our local Mosque was the "Blue Mosque" and if we wandered down behind the "Blue wooden Hotel" past the "Four Seasons Hotel" there are some fantastic restaurants. We walked everywhere we wanted to go for 7 days and only used the tram on the last day. The location and friendliness of Tashkonak were fantastic.
