For newcomers to the city, this place has no sign, the only indication that you’re already there is the picture of the pink building at booking.com, so print your reservation as it has the photo. I arrived a little late at almost 8:00pm but I left a message at booking.com site. I almost missed the guy who managed the building, no reception so be on time esp. if you’re coming late.
Location, when you get off at Sirkeci tram station, 3 minutes walk up the street perpendicular to the station called Ankara Cadessi and it’s on a street right before you reached the end corner, second very slim pink building, almost opposite the BIM supermarket. Perfectly located within convenient walk to all the sights in Sultanahmet and the bosphorous.
It isn’t a hotel, rather an apartment which I like very much, no breakfast to wake up early to and no reception to pass by every morning. Sweet freedom.
There’s an elevator so no sweat going up even when I’m on the last floor – 5th. It seemed like there’s only one apartment each floor so no noisy neighbor.
The apartment is much bigger than a hotel room, approx. 30sqm, real wood parquet flooring not linoleum. The kitchenette is just beside the main door, complete with sink, fridge, 2-plate stove – only the small one is working, big kettle, pot and pan for cooking, plates, glasses, a small chopping board and utensils. Inside the room, there’s a comfortable big bed and a smaller single bed both with duvets and bed covering, 6 pillows all, a sofabed, a tall cabinet, ample lighting and large windows, a folding table and a 32-inch TV with so much channels to browse including English ones. I’m alone but the place can accommodate probably a max. of 4 people. I like the double curtain so light in the morning is blocked, noise also is blocked if you close the window. Airconditioning is working well with cold and hot temp.
The bathroom is spacious, glass enclosed shower stall with a handle and a rain shower, warm and cold shower, towels, liquid soap and shampoo provided.
The downside, fridge isn’t working, dust has accumulated under the bed, the toilet bowl sides aren’t clean and on my arrival there’s a stinky pair of men socks in the small garbage bin inside the toilet. I also have to wash all the kitchen items as they’re not thoroughly cleaned. There’s no mirror in the room, only a bathroom mirror. There’s also only 1 tissue roll for my entire 3 nights stay. Also, wifi internet connection is very weak on the 5th floor, so get a floor down.
The place definitely needs one more staff to clean the apartment. The place has a potential to be a real nice attractive apartments if properly maintained. In comparison with other apartments I’ve stayed at in the city, this is spacious, the bed is comfortable, bathroom is nice, and there’s a sofa convertible to bed.
For the price I paid – EUR30 for single occupancy, no breakfast – it’s an apartment, remember – plus BIM supermarket to buy some stuff to cook is adjacent to the building, it’s very much worth it.
