My husband and I stayed for 8 nights and we have no regrets. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, only the heater was available but the weather was still cool so we just opened the windows and that helped. This may not be a luxury hotel but the personable, friendly, accommodating staff was priceless and made our stay in Istanbul all the more satisfying. Whenever we needed something they were quick to respond. The complimentary breakfast was enough to keep us going till late in the afternoon. It included scrambled eggs, Turkish omelette, sausage, cereal, yogurt, cheese, cold cuts, bread and all kinds of drinks.
It was fairly easy to get to from the Airport. Take the Metro and get off at the Aksaray station which is the final stop. Exit at the East entrance and walk a few blocks to Gencturk street and make a left. From Gencturk you turn left on a narrow side street which is Sirvanizade. It took us about 20 minutes to walk from the station to the hotel as we had to maneuver through the heavy human traffic on the main street. Once you get on Gencturk, it's an uphill climb so it can be a bit challenging if you have more than 2 rolling baggages.
It is within walking distance from the Spice Market, the Grand Bazaar, and the Lalei station where you can catch the tram going to the Sultanamet district, Taksim square, and Chora Church.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff: Ozlem, Gokhan, Ilhein, Gokhan, Emre, and Eda. We don't have the names of everyone we met but they were all very kind. We highly recommend this hotel.

The name of the hotel is Ramada Grand Bazaar and whilst its reasonably close its pushing the boundaries a little in making you think its very close. In reality its 2 tram stops away (the tram network and the new metro's in Istanbul are 1st class - was ot expecting this!) and its a 5-10 min walk to the tram stop. In saying that the hotel itself is great, couldnt really fault it. The bed and room itself were great and it seems quite new. The rooms have a coffee machine in them with a few pods (like a nespresso thing) and the included breakfast was great and varied, lots of yummy cheese! The staff were all very helpful (front desk all spoke perfect english but breakfast staff were a little rusty). The area itself has a few hotels and there are some restaurants around but it is mainly material/carpet and clothes shops. If you don't mind being out of the main action of istanbul and want a good hotel would recommend but if you want a bit more nightlife would look for other areas, Overall though enjoyed my stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Word of warning, there is a large mosque close by and the call to prayer at 5:30 will wake you if a light sleeper but i think this might be the case all around the areas in town.

Initially, was disappointed when arrived at the hotel. It is off main road that means, no taxis will pass by unless you call one by phone. The reception area is small. The rooms are even smaller, I think, they said, 20 sqmt each room. If you get a room on a higher floor, you will have a beautiful view of the city. Ask for a room on the back side. The hotel is conveniently located by tram and metro station, walking distance of ten and fifteen minutes, respectively. The rooms have a fresh look and are well equipped. The breakfast is nice. The service is extremely good. The managers at the reception, Mr Gokhan and Mr Yucel, were extremely helpful. If not for them, I would have not stayed there. They guided me in detail, for every direction, location, tram/ metro station, restaurant, tourist attraction, whatever I asked them for. I think, they could have charged a lower price for the size of the room they are offering.
