Location is good in terms of being near the metro, however it is further out from a lot of the tourist destinations in the old city part of Istanbul. But we really liked the location as we enjoyed being in the Nisantasi area, there's lots of "hip and modern" eateries in that area and all the luxury shops are just nearby. We also like to walk around cities as it lets us see what the city is really like. There is also lots of convenience stores around the area within a 5 mins walk to pick up snacks and water.
Took a taxi to and from the airport, costs roughly 50 TYR and will take anywhere between 30-60 mins depending on the traffic. Make sure you have a print out of the hotel address etc as not all the taxi drivers know where it is.
There is a cat park just nearby the hotel, the locals really look after the "street" cats in that area. Just be wary of some of the drug addicts in that park (can't miss them with their paper bags), they may come ask you for money. There are also lots of street kids who ask you for money, the locals recommend you to only give them 1-2 Lira but you can also say no and they will walk away. Otherwise we had no issues and didn't feel unsafe in Istanbul.
Hotel is quite new and on the smaller side, there are only 4 rooms per floor. Our hotel room was very large (one of the largest we've had throughout Europe). Bathroom was very large with a large long shower and also has a bidet for those of you who like that. Bed was very comfortable and easy to fall asleep in. We couldn't change the temperature on our air con while we were there which was a little annoying as it was very warm. We had to open our doors but Istanbul is so traffic heavy it was quite loud and hard to sleep. Couldn't hear anything from the outside except for emergency vehicles when the glass doors were shut.
Large new TV with only the usual english news channels. We had no problems with wi-fi it was fast and no drop out. Room was always cleaned really well towards the end of the day.
We had breakfast a couple of times, it is decent but we much preferred to go to the Nisantasi area and have breakfast at the cafes there.
Reception and breakfast staff all speak some level of english, the housekeeping staff don't speak any. The staff were really friendly and helpful, we did find one lady really pushy about booking for us a restaurant for dinner.
If you are going to take the metro everywhere, suggest you get their metro card as the fare is cheaper on the card than if you buy a tourist pass (though I have found all over the world tourist transport cards to ALWAYS be more expensive).
You can buy the card (10 Lira) just near the metro entrance on the opposite side of the road at the booth near the escalators, go to the small window and ask for a card from there.
