We recently stayed at the Shangri-la Bosphorus and are so glad we did. We found it to be fabulous in every way. Our room was so spacious and beautifully appointed and had a direct view onto the Bosphorus with a floor to ceiling window. The first night we were very tired as we had arrived from Singapore so we had room service. The food was very good and so was the service. The next morning we met Halil Tinaztepe, the Chief Concierge and really, he was made our visit so special. We have a health concern and one of us can eat very little salt. He advised us on restaurants, contacting the restaurant managers about this issue. Each one gave choices of what could be made with no salt; all were welcoming; and all the meals were delicious! Halil and his friendly assistant (Apsil? Not sure we remember his name correctly) also advised us on the best way to get around Istanbul, telling us which ferry to take where, how to take the tram, and of course always arranging taxis, including back to the airport where Halil arranged for us to be escorted to security.
We started each day with the buffet breakfast, which was outstanding. We enjoyed it so much, often we only had a snack in the afternoon, instead of a full lunch! Eruan was our waiter and he was very attentive and friendly. We never tried the pool, but assume it would be nice. The hair salon arranged for a haircut at short notice, which was very helpful. Our very first experience was to walk to the post office to send some stuff back to ourselves and the assistant concierge drew us a map as to how to set off on that adventure. We really like the neighborhood.
We have traveled a lot over the years and this is one of our favorite hotels. We are looking forward to the next time we go back! Hopefully soon!
