“Location, Location, Location”
Reviewed 21 September 2013

Did I say Location! That is what this hotel is all about. Nothing else in this hotel is there really to brag about except where it is located. We attended a food show and some of the people stayed out by the convention hotels and were bored stiff at night. Just a 30 minute Tram ride to the Empire Palace and you have all the restaurants, parks, and museum's you can ask for in walking distance. The hotel is within ten minutes walking of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Sultans Palace, Cisterns, and only 2 minutes from the Tram station to go anywhere. The hotel staff speak English but other than that not much help. Usually more interested in taking up the lobby seating on their laptops. The rooms are sufficient and a good value but nothing else really to say about them. They have a safe in them but when I couldn't get it to open after putting in my code, the staff just came and removed the batteries right in the door and opened it up so I question just how secure it is. it can be rather noisy till about 10:00 at the restaurants right below the rooms. Free internet is nice, although band width limited in the evenings. Breakfast is on the 6th floor with great views and very yummy. Really liked the Honey Comb block. I stayed on the fourth floor and it was nice to run up and grab a cup of coffee. The hotel can provide a car service to & from the airport albeit not included.

Room Tip: I enjoyed the 4th floor and had better internet reception than my friends on the 2 floor. Also close...

We stayed for a week there and cannot fault its location. Handy for main sights. Clean and tidy. However we asked for a quiet room but were given one partly overlooking the main
road with trams running past every few minutes; also we were next to "family room" which mean a succession of young couples with screaming kids. Breakfast on the roof was very good but we went half board and found that roof restaurant was closed in the evening and we had to eat in the coffee shop - limited menu and always the same also staff needed more supervision - too fond of smoking on duty and chatting to their friends. Worse still my partner ordered chicken wrap which was served cold. He sent it back and it was returned only partly heated whch caused severe tummy upset in the night. Miraculously the day the general manager appeared things improved dramatically. Also shower did not work well - head kept slipping down pole, basin plug did not fit, water seeping into bathroom. We reported it but nothing done. Staff friendly and helpful but poor grasp of English all round. Lastly bedmaking had to be seen to be believed. We had to remake beds ourselves each night to make them useable.

Room Tip: insist on room at back. Do not go half board.

Spent one night here on recommendation of my travel agent. Small room, clean, quiet. Very helpful front desk. The tram stop is just up the street and there's a nice coffee shop next door. The location of the hotel is ideal for walking to the major sites - Aya Sophia and Blue Mosque are a leisurely 10 minute walk.

Was actually booked in for the Best Western Amber hotel but that was a building site on arrival! This was the hotel that I had been reallocated to. Location is great as its very central. The room was adequate but air con was not working well but that got sorted. Staff are friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable for a city centre location

It was our first time in Istanbul, our flight was 13 hours late and they held our reservation and waited up for us. Our room was spacious, clean, air conditioned. The bathroom had good water pressure and full size shower with hair dryer. I couldn't ask for a better location. Right in the center and walking distance to everything. The staff was really friendly and accomodating. The continental breakfast on the rooftop was awesome...one of th better breakfasts.
I don't have any complaints about this hotel. A very nice hotel with a fair price!

Room Tip: Our room faced the courtyard...I imagin it was quieter than the rooms facing the street.

Just back from using this hotel. It is a really nice hotel with lovely rooms and with air-con in the bedrooms. Rooms are not very big but ample space and very comfortable with a choice of pillows if you want. Great location right next to the Tramway and in the heart of the Historic District of Istanbul. They supplied a very good breakfast, with plenty to choose from, in their restaurant at the top of the hotel but their daytime restaurant (the Coffee House) was very disappointing. My grandson and I ordered fish and chips each, which was easy as we were eating late and they served the fish raw in the middle. They took it back but the result was we had an additional twenty minutes before we got our dinner. The restaurant also tried to overcharge us for water we had. Their prices were already a bit on the steep side as well. The hotel itself was lovely but they also tried to charge us 35 euros for an airport transfer which we got for 10 euros from a tour company 20 metres away from the hotel. When we were there we had a lovely meal in a very nice restaurant on the same street as the hotel called the Red River, it had excellent Turkish food and service and they did not try to overcharge us.

I would use the hotel again but not their restaurant and I will not be booking any transfers or tours at their reception as you can get better value elsewhere. However I would recommend the hotel accommodation.

Room Tip: As the hotel is on a busy Tranway street ask for a room on the upper floors as they are quieter, if...

The hotel is located within 500 meters of all the major highlights of istanbul.
The rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly.
We Will certainly visit again.

Hotel is located next the tramline which makes finding back the hotel easy when you don't know the city very well yet. Just follow the tramline.
