I chose the Corinne Hotel on the basis of previous TripAdvisor reviews - and I couldn't have been happier with my choice! We booked a transfer (Efendi Travel - highly recommended!) from the airport, and were getting slightly worried as the driver wound through the increasingly narrow streets of Beyoglu - but we finally arrived at the Corinne, which has a very pleasing street-frontage, with French windows from the bar/restaurant opening directly onto the street. The receptionist was extremely helpful and friendly - check in was swift and we were shown to our room on the 5th floor. The interior of the hotel is stunning - beautiful marble floors and an amazing spiral staircase running right up the centre. It's been very tastefully decorated with lots of wood, marble and light colours. The room itself (52) was fantastic - beautiful high ceilings, wooden and marble floors (and marble walls in the bathroom), and a very welcome French window with a small balcony looking over a quiet internal courtyard. Beds very comfortable, and the bathroom was great - powerful rain-head shower in an enormous marble shower enclosure. The standard of decor is very high, and the little touches like Molton Brown toiletries in the bathroom show attention to detail. The free wi-fi worked perfectly well throughout the hotel.
If I had one criticism, it would be of the breakfast arrangements. A buffet breakfast was included in our rate; it's served in the main bar/restaurant area which is very nice in itself. The major let-down was the service, which was pretty shambolic. The staff didn't really seem to know what they were doing - tea and coffee took forever to come (the promised milk never materialised), and then there seemed to be some complex arrangement whereby you had to ask explicitly for bread/croissants etc which might or might not then appear, depending on the whim of the waiter/waitress. Which was a shame, because the rest of the food laid out was actually perfectly pleasant. Not a major issue, but we did feel the breakfast service was the one thing that would prevent the hotel from getting a 10 out of 10 overall.
Location wise, Beyoglu is a bit of a maze, so you'd be well advised to make sure you've marked the hotel on a good map before you set out! You can walk to Tophane tram stop in about 10 minutes - but be warned, it's a VERY steep uphill climb on the way back!!
Would I go back? Absolutely. Would I recommend the Corinne to others? Most definitely.
