“Convenient, Comfortable and Close”
Reviewed 8 October 2013

On previous lay-overs at Ataturk I have ellected to stay at one of the hotels on the airport's perimeter road "close" to the airport. The taxi journey always seemed to take an age so this time I elected for the TAV. Brilliant it was too. There is a shuttle bus that runs every fifteen minutes from outside arrivals or otherwise you can telephone the hotel (from a dedicated freephone at the bus stop). The stop/freephone is not too easy to find but I only had to ask for directions a couple of times to find my goal. The bus journey takes 5-10 minutes....but if you know where to go it only takes 5 minutes to walk to the hotel entrance......folow the signs to the METRO and at the METRO entrance go out the door to your right and keep right to arrive at the TAV.

Check-in was simple and fast and I ordered a wake-up call for my early morning flight (which was bang on time). Having checked-in and feeling hungry I ventured into town by METRO (very cheap and between 30-45 minutes depending on what central area you want to go to.

From waking-up next morning to getting to my boarding gate only took 25 minutes (I opted for the shuttle bus at such an early hour). Staff were all excellent and the room was very comfortable indeed.

Be careful about which hotel you book into. The TAV is really two hotels. One is airside and one is landside (although they are joined together physically). I opted for the landside hotel option which meant I had to clear Turkish customs immigration on way in and way out (remember your £10 VISA). If you opt for the airside option, you do not go through immigration but on arrival at the hotel your options are limited.

If you have a lay-over for more than 4 hours, this is definitely the place to check in and rest. Great indirect lighting, clean, and comfortable beds and most of all quiet. The hotel is one level down from the transit hall. Price is per 3-hour block and costs about $164 for two beds. A bit pricey, but less than buying an economy comfort upgrade.

Whether you have a long layover or are planning a longer stay in Istanbul, this is the perfect location. Attached to the airport, it also offers easy access to the city's metro train/tram system which can take you to all major areas of the city. The hotel is very clean and offers free fast internet and free breakfast buffet. It is also very secure. The staff is very helpful and friendly. While it does not offer a gym or spa, you will get plenty of exercising walking the streets of Istanbul and a harem (Turkish bath) can be easily found i. The Old City. Also, there is a market nearby the metro stop in the airport to pick up items to munch on in your room.

Room Tip: Very clean, but no gym or spa.

Booked Landside. Saw the previous reviews about being away from the lifts (it is true) and the noise from the airport terminal above (even more true) and booked in advance direct to the Reservations team to get a small discount on the rate (compared to their own website) and locked in my preferences (quiet & near only) which the hotel did arrange.
Everything worked, free wifi was fine, breakfast very early from 4 am was adequate (but not impressive).
Room was in good condition. Check in and out were problem free but do not expect the Wow factor. It is a functional hotel to rest, full stop. Only had 4 hours sleep so cannot comment further on the rest of the hotel facilities.
Book early to get the best possible price. However, the rates are still very substantial. If you need to stay near the airport, it is either TAV which is within walking distance from the International Arrivals/Departures. To find it - Turn Right out the main door and keep going around to the right. Takes 5 mins walking if you are not prepared to wait for their shuttle which you have to find their public telephone in the arrivals hall first to call the shuttle. The Domestic Terminal is further away - shuttle is necessary to reach it. Would recommend it and stay again but would consider the cost / benefit ratio carefully.

i had booked this hotel online knowing we had an early flight back the next morning. This hotel does the job. However, be aware of a couple of things. Number one i specifically requested a room with windows--Because of airport security and etc, some rooms have no windows. I was not okay with this. So after walking 15 minutes to our room i called and was moved to a room with windows, but irritating as i specifically asked for a window. The restaurant food is good and the breakfast is nice in the morning. I also asked to have my boarding pass printed and was told he could not do it. Then i asked a young lady 30 minutes later and she was able to process it. Overall ok for an airport hotel and they do have a shuttle that runs every 15 minutes.

Room Tip: ask for a window unless you are okay with no windows....

Dear Guest,
We would like to thank you for choosing TAV Airport Hotel and also sharing your precious opinions with us.
Unfortunately due to rules and regulations in the airport, some rooms in our hotel has got bloked windows so guests can not view the apron.
Furthermore, we are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay overall and look forward to welcoming you back again to TAV Airport Hotel in the near future.

For a 6 hour stay for two I paid 156 Euro and expected something very good for the money. In practice the room was very basic and tired though did get a few hours of sleep which I suppose is the whole point.

Staff at reception are not impressive and treat guests as being a hindrance to their work. Hotel is easy to find from the aircraft and obviously very handy for the ongoing flight. Due to the cost, standard and staff I could not recommend this transit hotel.

Although very convenient in the hart of the Airport and without having to go back through passport control and security, this hotel is very expensive even for a short lay over. i felt like being legally robbed by its management.
I had to wait in excess of 1 hour to be able to be provided with a room as i had no booking since my flight was delayed.
So if you are to stay at the hotel make your booking in advance
Having say that the room was clean and spacious and in my case very quiet. It was well appointed with mini bar, little bathroom amenity kit etc...
The receptionist was rather abrupt short of being rude obviously having a bad day.
