“Great location”
Reviewed 11 July 2014 via mobile

The hotel is smack in he middle of the old city with all the historic sites at an arms length. Friendly staff and the only draw back is the cramped rooms.

The hotel overlooks the Haggai Sophia which is an added bonus for art lovers....

This was our first time in Instabul and we were extremely satisfied by the hotel and its staff!! Everyone was very helpfull, they made our stay easier and memorable and we felt like home.
The hotel is within walking distance from the Sultanahmet square and all the main attractions(Hagia Sofia,Blue Mosque,Top Kapi,Grand Bazar etc). It's also 2 minutes from the tram station which connects to almost every part of the city.
The rooms are clean, comfortable and air conditioned. Breakfast is simple but plentiful, with fresh produce.
Next time we visit Instabul, we won't even look for another place!!!
Highly recommended!!!!!

The Zeynep Sultan Hotel is a very nice little hotel, with clean, comfortable rooms and an amazing terrace with view on the Aja Sophia. The toilet was a bit small, but perfectly clean and functional. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The only downside, the rather simple breakfast buffet. Some tahin, better local cheese and some home made jam would do the trick and make it a real gorgeous boutique hotel.

Other reviewers have highlighted this small boutique hotel's strengths. In short, excellent value for money, staff that go out of their way to be helpful (Ibrahim, the gregarious Turko-American owner, freely offers his advice on how best to plan your day) and location (a short stroll from Aya Sofya the Blue Mosque - and the nearest stop for the tram that will whisk you to more outlying sites). Each day begins in relaxed fashionl with breakfast on the secluded upstairs breakfast terrace. Some commentators lament that the rooms are small but they and their showers are quite adequate and a very minor downside to an overall pleasant experience.

Room Tip: Linger over breakfast on the secluded upstairs terrace. It could be miles from the hustle and bustle...

We stayed for four nights in May for my husband's nephew's wedding, along with our two adult children. The rooms were quite big enough (in fact our children's room was very big, and had 3 beds so they had plenty of room for bags etc) for a short stay, and the bathrooms, though small, were fine, and everything worked. The staff were fantastic, very friendly and helpful. We loved the roof terrace for breakfast, and drinks, with the view of the Hagia Sophia and the trees of the Topkapi gardens. I would love to come back when the small mosque next door has been restored - it is one of the oldest churches in Istanbul apparently, converted to a mosque, but was sadly covered in wooden scaffolding. Breakfast was simple, but we had everything we needed. So central, we walked all over the old city from our hotel. Would love to come back.

Room Tip: Our room faced onto the street in front, and there was a bit of traffic noise, but the kids' roo...

There are many options for staying in Istanbul, and I’ve stayed in at least seven different hotels there. But for me the Zeynep Sultan Hotel has become my home away from home whenever I’m in Istanbul. It’s a simple place but I find the rooms comfortable enough and the small showers and bathrooms all I need. It’s always been clean and the staff absolutely great. They will help you with all manner of tourist and transportation questions you may have. When you’re in Istanbul, anyway, you need a room only for sleeping and showering. So why waste money on a super fancy place? The situation of the hotel is just about perfect. It’s literally a three-minute walk to Hagia Sophia. The breakfast terrace on the roof is wonderful and is the hotel’s most distinctive and attractive element. It’s partly an open terrace, partly a glassed in area for when the weather is inclement. But from there one can eat a nice breakfast and see a completely unobstructed view of the dome of the Hagia Sophia. That alone is worth the very reasonable price of the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back are a bit quieter, but be warned there is a mosque beside the hotel and early morn...

I always stay at this hotel when I go to Istanbul. I was there again in April for a week. Returning to this hotel is like coming back to see good friends. The owner Ibrahim always made time it talk to my wife and I, whether it be at the breakfast room or the front desk. Imre and Yusuf were also very helpful and friendly and recommended places to see and dine. Yusuf's pleasant demeanour and Japanese speaking ability was especially helpful to my wife.
The location of the hotel is terrific; minutes away from Hagi Sophiia, Blue mosque, and the Grand Bazaar, and close to the streetcar to go to the Pera side of Istanbul.
I've stayed in this hotel 3 times and look forward to my next stay here when I make my next trip to Istanbul.
If you have the chance, check out the basement there was a church there older than Hagi Sophia.

The cradle of civilization...Turkey...From Hitites to Urartus, Phrygians to Lycians, from Romans to Seljuks...They all lived here. A city that gave birth to and fostered three glorious empires...The East Roman empire, the Byzantine empire and the Ottoman empire...Once the capital city of these empires, Istanbul is still alive and breathing a mystical blend of air, weary of the contemprary urbanization and cultural clashes. Zeynep Sultan Hotel is where you will blend a magical potion from a Roman hippodrome, an Egyptian obelisque, a Byzantine Church and an Ottoman Grand Bazaar.
