Owner description: The Rahmi M Koç Museum is the first major museum in Turkey dedicated to the history of Transport, Industry and Communications. Housed in magnificent buildings - themselves prime examples of industrial archaeology - on the shore of the historic Golden Horn, the collection contains thousands of items from gramophone needles to full size ships and aircraft.

We found a short write - up on Rahmim Koc and rode the Big Bus to the museum. It is well laid out, informative, children friendly (even the stairs have children level handrails) and extensive without being boring. Entry is TL 12.50 - very reasonable. Definitely worth a visit.

Thank Jim R

Koc is one the richest Turkish business tycoons. The museum has many memorabilia rarely found together in any world museum. Not to be missed. Nice building and presentation.

This museum appealed to me, so I took a ferry up the Golden Horn to check it out one afternoon.
A nicely laid out museum, not a busy place. Nice display of some road/air/sea transportation but certainly nothing hugely memorable.
Was it worth the trip? For me, no. I have seen better before, but I found it mildly interesting and a break from the bustle of this great city.

Thank exilednomad

The museum might not be as big as in Munich but also fascinating. Old trains and old model trains collection is very nice. You can sit in old trams and see what it was like. The section showing how home appliances work is very interesting. There is also a big collection of old cadillacs and motorcycles. You can also see different shops like they were in old times.
A commercial plane from 50-60's is worth climbing to. It's just in front of submarine.

Thank Anna K
