We spent one night at the Bebek Hotel in July before we moved out of Turkey. We picked to stay in that sea view room and we absolutely love it. When you look at the hotel from outside, you would never expect the rooms are so nice. The view from the room and the balcony is stunningly beautiful. The room is spacious with a lounge area for watching TV. The bathroom is well equipped and the shower is great. Breakfast is simple but offers enough choices. The venue is one of the best place to have breakfast in Bebek. In terms of location, this hotel located in one of the most trendy place in Istanbul. Traffic can be bad going into Bebek in the weekend but if you're staying in Bebek, you can get all the good food there within walking distance. Bebek is THE place to be when you want to experience the upper class life.

The only down side of this hotel is that the room is not so well noise proofed. We had a very noisy family staying next door to us and we could hear them yelling and the child crying in the middle of the night.

But other than that, we like this hotel a lot and we would recommend people to stay in Bebek Hotel.

Having lived in the Knightsbridge and Kensington of Istanbul now since last September, we still find Bebek, (Baby- no one knows the derivation!!) the former Greek fishing village 5-6 miles out along the Bosphorus Coast from the Golden Horn, a fascinating place. The Bebek Otel is on the traffic congested main street here, the tooting horns of traffic are a feature of life here, as someone has already said do not stay in a room overlooking the street, go for a Bosphorus view every time. The hotel is better than many in Istanbul in terms of decor. Wood panelling and brass and copper nautical curios and mementoes adorn the public areas. It does seem like a blast from say Edwardian England. Not many of the staff speak English and this can have the effect of making them appear rather more surly than they are, they are professional though and service is maintained at a high standard. Walk through the hotel to the inevitable balcony at the back, if you are lucky you will find a space, it is popular. Here you sit almost on a level with the water and can watch the ferries, cruise boats and big ships travelling to and from the Black Sea sail past. There is often a cooling breeze that blows along the water, so it can be a nice spot if it is sweltering elsewhere. Local tourist spots are the Rumeli Hisari castle, built in 12 weeks by Mehmet the Conqueror, to cut the Bosphorus Strait, preventing aid reaching Constantinople which he sacked in 1453 and overthrew the last Byzantine Emperor Constantine Conmenus. Hotel food, as you tend to get here, includes a lot of fish, overpriced greatly in my opinion and never yet worth either the money or the wait. Pricing here of beef and chicken is reasonable, but fish for some unfathomable reason is through the roof in places such as the Bebek Hotel. If you order the turbot they will serve you a little fried in batter appetiser before the main fish- it is it's liver. I had the beef strogonoff, a very tasty and tender dish, not as in England but few things are. The Ambassadors Bar in the basement area is often quiet and has a relaxing ambience that isn't always found in Istanbul a city of 17 million people with 23 million visitors a year!! Sarafin and Corvus wines are the local wines and their merlots and sauvignon blancs are nice. Getting to the hotel is easy from anywhere in Istanbul by cab. They all know Bebek and the hotel. If you come the coast road, traffic can be horrendous from central Istanbul and Besijktas but once you get beyond Ortakoy things generally open up a lot. Prices here are compatible with what it is but there are far far more expensive restaurants here if you want them. The staf will hail you a cab when you leave. Worth taking a stroll from the McDonald's and Park end of Bebek as far as the Rumeli Hisari, many people walk this route daily as part of their regime. If you need any advice speak to the street fruit seller who has his chair atop his wares, he has a squiffy eye and is in the street towards the park beyond the artichoke sellers on the side away from the Bosphorus. Hope you have a good time, though remember if you decide to walk inland it is extremely hilly. Constantinople like Rome was also built upon seven hills. This is a romantic place and no mistake, and can also cater for larger groups. If you are looking to idle away an hour or two with a glass of wine then this is unquestioningly the place to do it, you can contemplate your navel and watch the comorants diving for fish, and possibly catch sight of a school of dolphine passing on their way to the Black Sea a short distance up the Bosphorus, while watching the world sail by.

Room Tip: As above Istanbulis have no traffic management system apart from their car horns or police whistles...

Service is rather hit and miss here, but the view is outstanding, and you are right in the heart of the most exclusive residential area in Turkey. Stroll out of your hotel and see the paparazzi stalking Turkish celebrities in the cafes and restaurants of Bebek. Breakfast on the terrace is an institution, but make sure you book as even as hotel guests you are not guaranteed a seat by the water. Rooms are comfortable rather than luxury but the views are sublime.

Room Tip: Bosphorus view is essential, otherwise stay somewhere else.

This is a lovely hotel, with good rooms (small, well-appointed suites really) overlooking the Bosphorus directly. Staff very helpful (not always smiling but always knowledgeable and very nice). Tasteful rooms and much comfort. A bit far from tourist attractions, but the bus and taxi systems work well.

Room Tip: Must have Bosphorus view.

Bebek is an upscale part of Istanbul, slight far from the main tourist landmarks but has a busy high street, number of very nice restaurants, bars, etc. Bebek Hotel is a small charming hotel on the main high street on the edge of the the Bosphorus. I stayed in a room with the Bosphorus view which is phenomenal from a view perspective with a decent size balcony. The room itself was also very well decorated and spacious. Bathroom was also nice but the shower worked adequately.

Could 't help but agreeing with some of the reviewers below about the service. There wasn't any untoward incident as such but 'service with a smile' was somewhat missing. The breakfast area is also well located next to sea - however we sat inside given the January weather - but the selection somewhat limited.

Overall, a very pleasant hotel in a nice part of town - ideal for a romantic trip but do go for the sea view room.

Room Tip: Go for the sea view ....

In my opinion price/quality ratio is not excellent because of the weak room services and management. Especially reception services needs a lot of room for improvement. Smiling faces are hard to find.
