“Great Location, Very Friendly Staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 September 2013

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and its location is superb, on a very lively street in sultanahmet. It's walking distance to topkapi, hoja sofia, blue musk, grand bazaar, tram station and sea side. You can see Istanbul's great night life around this hotel but the noise was not a problem at all as long as you kept your windows close. It's a small hotel and the owner is very nice. The hotel has a very nice gift shop with very good prices. The only thing you have to consider is that the hotel doesn't have an elevator so u have to climb the stairs to get to ur room and the breakfast teria, but the hotel staff will take ur luggage so you won't have any problems with that. I highly recommend you ask the hotel to arrange an airport shuttle for your return flight, it is 15 turkish liras per person and if you are alone or it's just the two of you it will be cheaper than taxi.

Room Tip: I don't think there's much difference between the rooms, after all there are just 8 rooms av...

We really enjoyed our stay at the Gul Sultan. Hamit was extremely helpful and reached out to us prior to our stay to ensure our transportation to the airport was taken care of. The location couldn't be better- right next to all kinds of fantastic restaurants with delicious food and walking distance to all the main sights. Just a short walk to the Metro which takes you around town and to the aiport - we only needed it for the airport though. We could walk everywhere else from our hotel without a problem! The breakfast was excellent - fresh fruit, omelettes, Turkish tea, olives and salad. There is a rooftop terrace with incredible views where we could enjoy our food. We would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area looking for a place with great prices, service and a central location.

My wife and I stayed here for a total of five nights recently and found the entire experience to be terrific. Hamit is very detail oriented and made certain that all transportation, etc was arranged well in advance for us. Hamit was also very helpful in suggesting places to go and things to do.

Azad, who is the night manager, was also very helpful. He had good suggestions for eating and attractions, since he lives right nearby. We learned a lot about Turkey in general, its people and customs by talking with Hamit and Azad. These are two very knowledgable men.

Breakfast is included and is quite good, even for us vegetarians. The woman cooking (forgot her name) is accommodating in making eggs or french toast.

The location of this hotel is on a street with many restaurants and within a very short walk of the Ayasofya, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cisterns and not too far from other great attractions such as the Grand Bazaar and even ferries to Asia or the Prince Islands.

You may find hotels with better views, but you will not find a better overall package. If you are staying in Sultanhament, I strongly suggest you contact Hamit.

I stayed for seven nights at the hotel with my younger kids and wife. We had a wonderful time at the hotel and in Istanbul. It is close to the blue mosque, Hagia Sofia, Tokapi Place, tram station and I mean almost everything....It's the best you can buy and still affordable. The hotel staff is nice and friendly. And thank you Hamit for guiding us how to get around the city.

I spent here 4 nights in 2 different rooms...
first one was just on the main streeet and it is really very noisy, because of very high music from the pub till 1am.
second one was on the back, there was a small window a bit claustrophobic but this time it was quite...I would suggest to ask for this kind of room if you have a lightsleep.
both were small but clean
breackfast was absolutely GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have just arrived from spending almost two weeks at Gul - Sultan Hotel Istanbul.
The hotel has a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, located towards the end of a lively and inviting street. We found the neighbouring restaurant both convenient and most welcoming throughout our stay, which was an added bonus. The location is faultless; close to all the main attractions and the tram station about a five minute walk. We always enjoyed the strolls around the Blue mosque, café's and local bazaars in the evenings, taking in all the magic. The coastal road is also very close, which a has a spacious foot path for walkers, joggers and cyclists, with plenty of seats to view the Asian coast line. All the staff are courteous, helpful and knowledgeable. The rooms were spotless, breakfasts ample and always served with a smile. A really great time had by all, a most memorable stay. I would not hesitate to call in again.

Room Tip: If you want a quieter room, you might want to choose a room that does not overlook the main street.
