Traveling as a group we stayed two nights at this small property. The location is fantastIc! The staff is very accommodating, friendly and did everything in advance to make sure our arrival was seamless and our stay enjoyable. Decent breakfast and the rooms are adequate and clean. A little small but that is to be expected in Europe. No elevator. So keep that in mind if you have accessibility issues. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

The hotel is located in the historical heart of Sultanahmet. It is less than 5 minutes to the most popular attractions in a slow pace. At this only 8 rooms small hotel all windows are facing the street with cafes and restaurants. In the evenings sometimes a little bit nozzy. Our room has an air conditioning, but we were satisfied with the open window for a quite fresh air. If it was noisy, closing the Window easily corrected the situation. Soundproofing was quite noticeable. The exterior of the hotel is beautifully wooden in the Ottoman style. Pleasant lounge, where you can positest in comfortable armchairs and coffee tables, reading newspaper or a book with the book shelves in the corner. We stayed 2 nights on the 2nd floor in June 2014 . The room was small, but it was conveniently located. Comfortable bed, bedside tables, wardrobe, dressing table with mirror, large comfortable armchair by the window. The room was cleaned, bed linen and towels were changed regulary. A spectacular view of the city and the Bosphorus are oppened from the upper terrace. The Majestic Ayia Sofia as on a palm stands on the left. And it's constant Companion The Blue Mosque in all its glory is on the right. The Golden Horn Bay and part of the Asian side of Istanbul are behind. What extraordinary sunrinses and sunsets can be seen from the upper terrace! I woke up early in the morning to look at this unforgettable beauty and take a few pictures for memory. There is one more glazed terrace below, where the breakfast was served. Breakfast was a buffet-style: a big choice of vegetables, fruits, dried fruits, pastries, cheeses, olives, various jams, honey...the drinks as juices, coffee , tea. The most delicious tea I drunk in Istambul! Breakfast in Gul Sultan Hotel can help you to forget about food for a long time and allow to enjoy of the beauty of an Oriental town. In the guest lobby, we were always greeted by the friendly receptionists, always smiling and ready to help at any moment by the Council on any question. We were very pleased to be held in Istanbul, and in the hotel Gul Sultan, in particular, we spend our two unforgettable days. We would stay here again.

This hotel is so charming. Not only is it very clean and an awesome concierge but the location and price make this hotel perfect. It's located on the historical part of Istanbul. Many sites are walking distance. In the evening when sites are closed the street where hotel is located comes alive. The streets ambience is perfect for a night out with music and many dinner restaurants to choose from. My favorite Trias right next to the hotel. All the restaurants are right there. No need for a taxi so you can drink, unwind and just enjoy your vacation. There's a laundry service close by and a travel agency next to the hotel. Getting to and from airport is all arranged by the hotel. ok I can go on and on because you can't go wrong with this hotel's location, service and ambience!!!

This friendly small hotel was our home for 3 days. Like other travelers have said, it is within walking distance (10-15 min) from many must-see sights like Topkapi, Blue Mosque, Haghia Sophia, Archaeological museum, and the Cistern Basilica. There are a few grocery stores within 5 min. walk if you want to get some bottled water or snacks. As I later discovered, Gul Sultan happens to be on the street where many of the Tripadvisor top-rated restaurants are for Sultanahmet. We didn't have to go far for good food, but keep in mind the food will be more pricey due to their locations. While these restaurants are conveniently on the same street as the hotel, on the weekend nights the noise does not die down until 2-3am. On weekdays maybe 1am. That was our experience. It didn't bother us too much because we were usually fairly tired by the time we hit the pillows, but for light sleepers it may be something to think about. In case you are wondering, yes, the beds are comfortable.
The room and bathroom are very clean. Hair conditioner is not provided. If you use conditioner you will need to bring your own. The bathroom is big enough but the shower stall is a bit small.
Breakfast is ready to serve at 8am on the 4th floor. You can also go to the rooftop for some amazing views of the sea. There is a large variety of typical Turkish breakfast - dried fruits, cheeses, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, hams, bread, biscuits, fresh fruits, sausages, eggs, cereal, and many more items. The pretty lady who prepares the food up there not only makes you omelette to order, she also cooks a couple of delicious dishes everyday. My favorite was her eggplant with tomatoes. So yummy! I would have eaten the whole bowl had I not thought to save some for others :) We looked forward to breakfast everyday and were sad we had to leave.
Front desk service was excellent. Azad helped to call the tour companies when I thought they weren't coming. He also suggested itineraries and must-see sights. Tours can be arranged for you if you have not already done so. Azad was always smiling when he saw us each morning and received us like we are old friends.
You can buy tram cards (and refill at stations) at newspaper stands. Sultanahmet station to Eminomu is only less than a 10 min. ride if that much. You can then walk across the Galata Bridge to the other side, or stay on the same side and visit the New Mosque, Spice Market, or eat at the many good restaurants there. As a side note, please keep in mind that most museums are closed on Mondays, so please plan accordingly. If you found this review to be helpful please don't forget to vote. Thanks!

Gul Sultan Hotel is a charming small hotel with a very friendly service. The location is excellent with Topkapi, the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia within easy walking distance. Also close to the tram which could get one to the Grand Bazaar, the Spice Bazaar, the ferries and the Galata Bridge with just a few stops.
The spiral staircase to the roof terrace was a bit steep for an elderly person, but once there the view was fantastic.
The street outside, which could be a bit noisy at night, was full of good restaurants and cafés. The rooms are a bit small but adequate. And everything was neat and clean. The breakfast very good also. I shall return.
