“Better than average in great location”

The location must be the best point for this hotel. Close to all the main sites in the Old City, it is an ideal spot for walking or catching the tram (3 TL).

We had a triple room on the 2nd floor (209) for 3 of us and found it very comfortable. The beds were firm and supportive and extra pillows were delivered quickly. Even though it was under 10C outside, the rooms were quite warm without heating on and we would often have the window open. No need for extra bed covers. The windows are double-glazed so that the city noise was not obtrusive. The 6:15 call to prayer was pretty quiet. The bathroom is a good size with strong shower over a large bath - good hot water.

We found all the managers to be helpful and their information accurate. We used their in-house minivan shuttle to the airport (35 Euros) and found it very useful - we wouldn't have fitted into a local taxi.

Breakfast was excellent and included in our tariff. The kitchen is on the ground or lower level, so the only hot food is pre-prepared sitting in a warmer. You cannot oredr anything extra. That said, it was very satisfying. We tried one dinner but found it only OK. We were the only group to turn up. There was no atmosphere - no music in the background, no other guests. Perfectly fine for a quick meal if you have just arrived, but even then there are lots of good, enthusiastic restaurants literally just around the corner. The Pierre Loti Hotel On the corner has two very reasonable restaurants to try.

The hamam in the basement is quite good but allow them a couple of hours to heat everything up. You start with a sauna, then the wash and I finished with an oil massage. Total 80 Euros, which is on a par with the big commercial hamami nearby.

In summary, I was very comfortable there. l

We went down many narrow streets to get to this hotel and it was well worth it. Situated in the heart of the old city, it was within in easy walking distance of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and the Grand Bazaar. The hotel itself is lovely and clean, though the first room we stayed in had no view and the bathroom was tiny. On our return later, we were allocated a bigger room with bigger bathroom. The top floor hosts the hotel restaurant where one can have breakfast, lunch and dinner inside or on an open terrace with lovely views over the Bospherous and Istanbul. We had sundowners there every night and then stayed for dinner. The service there was outstanding and the hotel staff very friendly. This is a great hotel in a great location and I would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: All rooms are not the same size so it may be worth checking out the hotel rooms first if you can.

Our first hotel stay in Turkey was here, and it was a wonderful introduction to the country. We could easily get to so many great restaurants and special highlights of Istanbul. The breakfast buffet on the top of the hotel was delicious, and the view splendid. The service was always nice. We were very happy here!

As a usual business traveler, we stayed at this hotel because of the reviews suggesting a great location. The reviews are correct, superb location and convenience for all of the usual tourist attractions here in old Istanbul. Make no mistake, this is not luxury upscale hotel. Everything here is quite average. The hotel itself is a little tired around the edges. Staff are not the most helpful. In fact, when asking for directions to a restaurant, a friend of the hotel offered to show us the way, all the way to his carpet store. I would not expect this at a better hotel. Nonetheless, the beds were comfortable, the rooms were quiet, and our overall stay was really quite lovely, mostly in part due to the city itself being so magnificent

We stayed here for a long weekend, and found the hotel to be welcoming, friendly and in an amazing location, just 10 minutes walk from all the major attractions in the old town.
The gentleman on reception couldn't have been more helpful in translating for us, booking restaurants and giving advice on the city..thank you!
Although it's location is right in the city, it's just off the main street, so it's quiet and secluded. and the rooftop restaurant gives stunning views, especially at sundown!
I wouldn't hesitate to come back here...a lovely hotel in an amazing city.

You can't get a better location than the Sultanhan Hotel. Located in Sultanahmet in the Old City, the hotel is half a block away from the area's main street, and within a short walking distance of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and Grand Bazaar. There are dozens and dozens of excellent restaurants nearby.as well as shops. A tram runs along the main street making it very convenient to cross the Golden Horn. Rooms are comfortable and clean with generously sized bathtubs if you want to have a nice soak after a long day of sightseeing. The rooftop restaurant where breakfast, lunch and dinner is served has magnificent views over the Sea of Marmara. The hotel is on a deadend street so if you want a bit of a view ask to face the front of the hotel.and you won't have to worry about noise. The rear facing rooms have no view except for the windows of the building behind it. The included breakfast buffet was adequate but could use some more imaginative choices. The front desk staff tries hard to be accomodating and the air conditioning worked just fine.I would definitely return here on my next trip to Istanbul.

Room Tip: If you like to sleep in in the morning avoide rooms on the 4th floor. The restaurant is on the 5th f...
