BRILLANT hotel with wonderful and freindly staff always there to give a helping hand. The room was spotless and had a very large bathroom. The open top roof resturant was lovely with wonderful food being served. The waiters were very attentive and kept filing up our water and even giving us 2 litre bottles at the end to take to our room for free. The location of the hotel was brillant with every major attraction walkable distance and also it was near lots of shops and restaurants. overall it was a brilliant stay.

Very nice place to say. Clean, roomy. We only had breakfast in the restaurant on the top floor, but it has a view of the Mosques to die for, both at sunrise and at night. We'd definitely stay here again.

We stayed for 5 nights and quite liked this hotel. It's a small, but well maintained hotel. The rooms are a good size with nice bathrooms. We had a room facing the front of the hotel and could open up our doors to the quiet street below. It is off of one of the main drags so it's close to everything. The staff are friendly and helpful, very welcoming. There is free wifi but the hotel restaurant does not serve alcohol. Not that this is a huge issue, but it meant that after a day if touring, we always went somewhere else for dinner so we could enjoy a glass of wine or a beer. The breakfast was well appointed, but a little tiresome after so many days. All-in-all, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel, it probably deserves 4.5 stars.

Room Tip: Ask for one facing the front if the hotel. While I don't know what the others are like, I did l...

Welcome on arrival was very much appreciated as was the information and advice to call them should we get lost and that they would come and get us - obviously we looked the worse for wear. The rooms were lovely and spotless. The rooftop restaurant personnel were wonderful and the views beyond words.

We stayed here again after an overnight trip to Gallipoli and Troy and really appreciated the quality of the Sultanham and courtesy and helpfulness of its people. Definitely 5 out of 5.

Room Tip: Just book.

This is a very nice hotel. It is conveniently located in the old city to most of the attractions - Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the Topkapi Palace, etc. It is a very short walk to each. The hotel is situated on a quiet side street. The staff was friendly. This is not a spectacular place, but it is quite nice for the price.

Had great directions emailed to us from the hotel for taking the train from the airport so we got there without a hitch, but were tired after18 hours of traveling. At check-in we were asked if we had any tours booked, and I told him that we had. Proceeded to tell me we had made a mistake because his was the best (never asked us who I had booked). I reiterated that it was a done deal, so then he tried to push a Bosphorus cruise. Tried to politely say it was a possibility, but that we really just wanted to go to our room. Was trying to be as nice as possible because I didn't want this to affect the room we were given. The rest of the staff was very nice, but the desk clerk didn't acknowledge us the rest of our stay. If they had mentioned arranging tours in the email correspondence we had before our arrival, I am sure I would have considered it.

Room was on the front of the hotel, very nice size, but dark. Beautiful rooftop desk with large breakfast cold buffet. Great location. Just sorry we had such a negative first impression.

My husband and I stayed in Istanbul for 3 nights and arrived mid afternoon after a 12 hour journey where the receptionist immediately launched into trying to sell us a private trip/tour for about 150 TL for the next day. Our room was at the front of the hotel and perfectly clean and quiet. The location of the hotel could not have been better or closer to the main sights. On arrival, the shower over the bath was not fixed up so on the way out, we brought this to the attention of the receptionist who was not particularly interested (it would have been nice to have a quick shower after travelling before heading out for the afternoon). On arrival back some 3 hours later, still no shower. My husband went to reception and reasonably asked for the problem to be resolved - which they did albeit not very willingly. So, first impressions, not great but our stay was about the City sightseeing in 3 days so overall not a huge problem but the attitude we felt was not very customer focussed (from reception). Breakfast was excellent - a good choice from the buffet either sitting inside or outside on the roof terrace (service was wonderful from restaurant staff) with spectacular views. We discovered the hotel was not licensed for alcohol which was not a problem for us but it meant there was no atmosphere in the bar at any time, it also meant that if you had booked dinner in the hotel, you would not be able to have wine/spirits/beer alcohol of any kind (fair enough given it is a Muslim country) but just to be aware as we believe this is a recent change and at the time of our booking it was licensed.

The day before we were checking out, we asked if they would book us a taxi to the port. The receptionist (a different male) said they had their own car and the "fixed" price would be 180 TL. We declined as just wanted a standard taxi where the cost was around 50TL (we had researched prices beforehand). We did bite the bullet on checking out and asked the receptionist to call us a standard taxi which he did, but we felt a little compromised. Whilst we have no issue with people trying to hard sell and make a living, the feeling of being ripped off or pressurised in the hotel in which you are staying we felt was a bit much.

Overall, a positive experience of Istanbul in a clean and traditional hotel in a perfect location in the old town of Sultanahmet.
