The Garden House is tucked away in the old Sultanahmet section of Istanbul. A renovated old building that retains its charm and uniqueness. A garden restaurant is delightful and its breakfasts are very good with a wide selection. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. The hotel is a little hard to find and several taxi drivers didn't know where it was. But it is close to the famous Hippodrome and by asking at several other hotels, I finally found it after spending the day sightseeing.

Room Tip: Even though my windows looked on the the street, buy room was very quiet.

The Hotel’s staff was exceptionally polite, we have traveled a lot and stayed at many different hotels and we have never met such a friendly staff.  Breakfast and Dinner was delicious, fresh Turkish food.  There is a courtyard where one can sit and relax and have coffee, tea, water, cake which is provided all day for guests at no charge.  The room/bathroom are big and clean.
The steepness of the hill on which the hotel is situated was a little difficult.  The street is very narrow. No elevators but the staff helped with our luggage. The weather was very warm and we had to call the receptionist every time we wanted the AC on or off. The Manager did bring someone to try to repair it but they were not able to fix it. We asked not to turn the AC too high but it looked like there was only one set temperature and it got really cold. But at least the hotel had AC.
Tours provided at hotel: We asked the Gentleman at the Reception desk to book a Bosphorus Cruise tour for us two days in advance but the Tour Company never came to pick us up.  Also, we asked him to make a reservation for the Hodja Pasha Whirling Dervishes but when we got there they didn’t have our info. Our advice, don't book tours two days in advance. To sum up, this is a good hotel.
Thank You SELCUK  TOPCU and Staff.

I choose this hotel based on research of their good reviews & their website. I thought I knew what to expect in term of costumer service, room condition etc, but I was completely wrong.

We had several unpleasant experiences with costumer relation (CR) staff in this hotel and the condition we had in the hotel is different than what they 'sell' in their website;

1. The room was so small, it wasn't 15 sqm as written in their website. It was just slightly bigger than double bed size, addition to that, the CR told us that our room is already upgraded- we suppose to stay in the basement, instead of ground floor. I know this is not true, because (based on their website) the economy room suppose to be on the ground floor.

2. The day after, I met him and request to swap to the bigger room which closer size to the web site's description. He refused and said the room was busy. I insisted, because I saw the room is empty. 'Luckily' the nice reception lady approved my request.
I have been travelling around the world, and this is the first time I have to feel lucky to ask for my right.

3. Contrary to what written in their website: complimentary bottle of water in the room DOESN'T fulfilled daily free of charge.

4. The CR forbid us to bring outside food & drink (it was normal food & bottle of water). Never, ever saw hotel have this regulation before, except for stinky fruit (Durian).

Room Tip: - Avoid room no 110, it is only slightly bigger than double bed's size. - Curtains is too short...

A small little gem in the absolute heart of the city, walking distance from all major landmarks & historical sites like the blue mosque...very friendly staff, co-operative & understanding. Food, ambience, the garden & all facilities were very good, though basic at some places but still would suffice for a very comfortable stay indeed.

To me the money worth spent, very comfortable stay & would recommend everyone who wants to stay in that part of the city...thank you once again to the entire staff of the hotel.

When you stay at the Garden House, you feel like you are at home, but better. The staff is super friendly, especially Ayhan, the rooms are comfortable, try to get a room in the Rose Garden Section. The breakfast is super and they have wine tasting in the evening The hotel is within walking distance to everything in the old section. For me, it is hard to have a bad meal in Istanbul, but there are thousands of restaurants to choose from. The staff at GH made great recommendations. No better place to stay in Istanbul if you want a small hotel.

I was traveling with a friend and neither of us had been to Istanbul before. We couldn't have chosen a better place to land as newbies. The staff is very very helpful, warm and welcoming. They always had time for us. We asked them to arrange a guide for us and they found us Tuba. She was exceptional and spent 11 hours with us combing the old section with its historic sights and taking us to shops of high quality. The hotel also suggested a restaurant that was quite fun in the Kumkapi section. We never would have had the experience of this area if not for their good advice. The room itself was less than we had anticipated from the pictures on the website. it looked like one that has not been refurbished as yet. This might be something you'd want to check out. All in all, though, The Garden House is a lovely place to come back to at the end of the day.

We stayed here a couple of weeks ago for 5 nights. It was me, husband and our toddler. Staff are all great. Room is beautiful - although note that we stayed in the 'Suites' part - so it might be different from the other part - there are two. Breakfast is just fine - nothing exceptional, but all that we needed. We had dinner there a couple of times - and its was both tasty and good value. Although in the middle of old Istanbul we were not always aware of the prayers - as our room was facing into the garden. Garden was great for our toddler as well as she could walk around quite safely. Staff at the hotel were helpful with advice and generally very nice - from the manager to the cleaning lady. WiFi internet everywhere. All the sites are a stone-through away - but also don't miss Sokullu Mehmet Pasha - a small but beautiful mosque around the corner.

Room Tip: Rose Garden Suites - I think this is the new part and the one with really beautiful rooms.
