“Lovely, perfectly situated, great staff, charming”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2013

Lovely garden, lovely breakfast, the staff had impeccable English and was super helpful, patient and attentive. The back garden feels like a respite. Very quiet street. Lots of high quality shops and yummy authentic cafes and super casual spots to eat nearby. the guests were a real mix- some in burquas, a number of Europeans - I think I was among the only Americans when
I was there. Mostly couples and a few business travelers, not a spot for young kids. It is about 10 mins on foot to Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia and the tram as well as the Kardiga hammam dating back to 1505 (Turkish Bath). Hotel is charming, tiny winding old-city streets. Great high quality bed/pillows and superior cotton linens, huge bed, good a/c, very Turkish style decor with kilim on the floor. An amazing value. One tip - definitely get the hotel car d and definitely have staff mark the hotel on a map WITH street names (hard to come by). It's a 1 block street so a bit hard for cab drivers to find. I loved this spot.

We have just spent a week as guests of the Garden House Hotel in Istanbul. We could not be happier with the cleanliness, the management and the friendliness of all staff but particularly Niño and Jacob who made us feel so at home. The excellent location behind the Blue Mosque put us in easy walking distance to establishments in Sultanahmet.

After researching Istanbul areas extensively for a while, we decided to go for Garden House upon the recommendation of a friend. From the first contact,Bora from the hotel was very helpful. He gave few option since we are a family of 5, including two children. They kept close communication with us to help make our trip easier. I think it was a smooth experience from all aspects. They pick us up from the airport. When we reached the hotel, the rooms were clean and food was excellent. They have teas, cookies and fruits almost all day. The hotel is so close to everything, including blue mosque, ayasofia, etc. the staff at the hotel were wonderful, helping us arranging tours and taking care of the leg work. I can't say enough about front desk, Selguk. He was great in helping us find our way around the city. Staff in general were wonderful. I highly recommend this place and will definitely stay there next time

Room Tip: Choose high floors for better views

Really, after staying at a number of hotels in and around Istanbul, both sides, for business, this was the one place where I felt like I was home when I ended a long days work. Very clean, coffee/tea/beverages available all day and night in the lounge area with sweets as a compliment. Great place!

The location of this hotel is excellent. The garden is a big extra. The food in the restaurant is good, the breakfast excellent.
My friend and I booked 2 double rooms for single occupancy. For my friend I asked a smokers' room (still possible in Turkey). We were disappointed about our rooms. My friend's room was a non-smokers' room on the 4th floor (no lift, no balcony). My room was on the first floor but very small. Keep away from room 110! The room is next to the street and the conversation of the people in the street sounds like they are talking next to your bed, which of course they are. We stayed for 4 nights. I must admit that the manager offered me a bigger room for the last 2 nights, but I couldn't be bothered to move. My mistake of course. Room 110 is definitely not suited for 2 persons. There was no room for a chair, the bathroom was flooded every time I had a shower. The staff is very friendly, there are tea and coffee facilities in the rooms and you can have as much bottled water as you want.

the garden house hotel is located within walking distance of the main touristic sites of SultanAhmed/Istanbul. we (family w a 6 y old kid) just stayed there for four nights during the recent trouble in Istanbul (of which one could not notice much in SultanAhmed, except that the lines for all tourist attractions were much shorter than anticipated). the hotel staff was very friendly throughout and made us feel welcome. We particularly enjoyed the garden, where we spent most of the time we were at the hotel during the daytime. I suspect not many hotels this close to the main attractions have such a nice and relaxing backyard haven. Complimentary drinking water and coffee/tea (24h) as well as afternoon cookies and cakes were nice additions.

Istanbul is a city where the price of the hotels could be astonishing, so when you book a room you have to think what do you need and what do you want from the hotel. I found the rose garden incidentally but the choice was worthwhile. The location is great, walking distance from the hyppodrome, inside the old area of sultanhamet (which means that the hotel border some very old dirty houses) but with a taste of relax when you area in the hotel. This hotel doesn't have pool, gym or other amenities you can find in the five-four stars manions but they have hospitality and kindness, which is important too from my viewpoint. Great breakfast, rooms nice but a little bit too "heavy". Conclusions a place to remind next time in istanbul
