Stayed here for 8 nights and had a wonderfuk experience. The guest relations manager- Alisher was very professional and helpful. Would definitekt recommend staying here. Good value for the location and overall cleanliness of the hotel. Dont forget to have a drink at the rooftop restaurant, the view is splendid.

Booked through Secret Escapes 4 nights.
Our first room was the size of a phone box!
We were moved next
No room for luggage.moved to slightly larger one after our first night.
Building site opposing working 24 hours (underground station) wore ear plugs,so not a problem.
The 5am call to prayer wakes despite said ear plugs..
.quite liked it somehow.
Location is FANTASTIC 2 minutes walk to the Tram,5 mins to The Ferry.
Breakfast was good ,plenty to choose from, tasty Turkish Fare.
I had cheese tomato and various meat with breads and pastries.
Roof restaurant was lovely nice views over the Bosphorus a great place to sit and have a beer after a hard day taking in the sights.
Never ate in Restaurant .
Staff very pleasant.Helpfull and polite.
Good value.Central location

My wife and I booked through lastminute.com 'Secret Hotels' package to stay for 5 nights in a double bedded room in a 4 star hotel in Istanbul. We were allocated to the Ipek Palas Hotel and accommodated in Room 510 - an 'economy double'.

Some comments on the hotel:
Location: Absolutely perfect and central Only 10 - 15 minutes walk from the blue mosque, spice bazaar, Galata bridge etc. Near a tram stop. Ideal.
Staff: Generally friendly.
Room: Far below any 4 star standard. The room measured approx 2.5 X 4.2 metres, including the tiny shower / basin / lavatory compartment of about 1.5 X 1.5 metres. The room was so small that two people could not pass each other beside the bed. There was no chair (& no room for one). No bedside table, no bedside lights. No tea or coffee making facilities. Inadequate wardrobe space. In the shower compartment there was no space to unpack two people's toiletries. No shampoo was provided. The walls were so thin that conversation from neighbouring rooms could be heard. However at least the room was clean and kept clean. This room was in no way 4 star and should not have been sold as such.
Restaurant: For breakfast there was a good selection of Mediterranean dishes. However unforgivably there was no coffee - only Nescafe and even that liquid was dispensed from a machine giving no ability to adjust strength. Fresh orange juice was charged extra. We did not dine in the restaurant.

Dear Guest

The room that you booked through Lastminute.com with top secret deal is economic room. These rooms are very low budget rooms. As you mentioned we have other superior rooms with special decorations. In the case availability of hotel, economic rooms are upgraded with an extra charge.Upgrade process can be made directly by front office team. The housekeeping department checks the rooms and supplies shampoo /soap daily. After daily routine controls, if these materials are consumed for second time , these are supplied according to guest’s reuest.

Your sincerely,

We stayed in the Ipek Palas for 4 nights. The hotel ist perfect located for all the sightseeing in Istnabul. Breakfast was really nice!
The room was small but nice and clean... but every morgning water started dripping from the bathroom ceiling. We did inform the front desk every morning but nothing ever happend and nobody ever appologiesed to us.
In a 4 Star hotel you would shouldn't have to live with a wet floor and water dripping from the ceiling...

One should also know that there is a big construction sight right next to the hotel.

Firstly it is hard to knock the location; it is minutes walk away from the historical treasures of the Old City
We booked the Hotel via an offer from Lastminute.com and had an Economy room. The room was a lot better than I feared; was clean and bedding changed daily
The noise from the building works can be distracting esp. at night and would affect a light sleeper
Breakfast very good and the staff are friendly and helpful
Bearing in mind what we paid (less than £350 each for 4 nights including scheduled flights from Manchester) I would certainly recommend however if I was paying for a Suite I might have some issues esp. with the building works
By the way you will need to purchase a Visa when you arrive at the airport before you go through customs

Having stayed at this hotel previously makes reviewing simple, as always the staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

this time we stayed in a suite room and loved the room décor, yes it may need some renovations and updating, it is obviously a old hotel but apart from the rooms the rest of the hotel is modelled in ottomaneske design which I personally find really charming especially when staying in one of the oldest parts of turkey.

location wise this is ideally located for sightseeing in the sultanahmet district. there is currently constructions being undertaken next door to the hotel, this time around our room was overlooking the works and what seemed to be them working through the night, with ear plugs though I didn't hear a thing but can see how it would be a big issue for light sleepers etc. would ask for a room away from the construction if you want a quieter room.

I have had such great memories from every time I've stayed in Istanbul and have an affinity to this particular hotel and would recommend to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable boutique hotel centrally located in the sultanahmet district.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the construction for a quieter room

My husband and I stayed for three nights as part of our wedding anniversary trip and we had some problems with our hotel. First the positives: the location is outstanding and makes exploring the Sultanhamet area and major tourist sites really easy. It is also surrounded by loads of great inexpensive restaurants and cafes. The staff are lovely and friendly and the breakfast is tasty and plentiful.
BUT...
The hotel is very rundown. Our room was large but very tatty with holes in the towels, a broken shower fixture and the basin coming loose from the wall. Our room also had issues with weird smells although when we complained of this to the front desk it was resolved.
All of this would be possible to live with as we really just used the hotel as a place to sleep. The problem though (and this is very much outside of the control of the hotel) it is almost impossible to sleep with the construction site next door. On our first night they ended at 9 and we figured it wouldn't be a problem but the second two nights the intense noise was still going after midnight. Like I said before this is not the fault of the hotel but I cannot recommend staying there in good conscience.
