“Fabulous location - Great value for your money - superb hospitality”
Reviewed 27 March 2010

I have just read through reviews from last year and take exception to the whining and complaining of a few of last year's visitors. I stayed there on 4 occasions with small groups of over 50'travelers....and on EVERY occasion - everyone was totally happy with all aspects of the hotel...I am now booked back in April and June and have 8 clients staying there in May. I look forward to breakfasts on that fabulous patio over- looking the Marmaris ....and to fun take out meals from the DOY DOY Restaurant across the street....Sadly some tourists desire Four Season's quality for a typical local pension! Very basic, clean and enjoyable. Breakfast in the morning is included and served on roof top terrace where you can see beautiful vistas, Blue Mosque, Oblix and Bosporus Bay. Hotel staff is friendly and somewhat helpful. Main reason I stayed there was it's closeness to Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia and Topkapi Palace. Tram station and Sultan Ahmet shopping and restaurants are close bye. Doy Doy and Bohara Restaurants serving authentik Turkish foods are few steps away.

we had a terrible experience at the Yunus Emre hotel. They provided barely mediocre rooms for the price they charge. Not only that, for the three nights that we stayed in the hotel, not once did they bother to clean up the room. we had unfortunately pre booked ourselves for three nights else we would have run out of the establishment on our first night here. the hotel is undoubtedly well located, but then there are so many other options even for location for one to suffer their kind of mediocre service. the breakfast served was barely passable. they scrimped on fresh fruits, even despite asking for it. they were overeager to book us on various tours. tea and coffee seemed like luxuries in this hotel. they almost singlehadedly left a blemish on my otherwise wonderful turkish holiday.

Sorry for the unplesant experience you had in our place i wish that i could be aware of that and be able to change .You are right some of our rooms are not too large but most of guests do not mind it.
Again i am sure that you are right about cleaning the room and i am terribly sorry about it we clean the rooms every 2 days not every day and i might miss your room when i was given' the must be cleaned rooms' list to the stuff thank you for writing it now i am much more carefull about it.
About breakfast again you might be right ( customer is always right) we serve beside of standart breakfast ( cheese , salami , eggs , butter , gem , honey , chocolate cream , tomatos , cucumber , cornflakes) fried potatos , French tost and at your request we prepare omelets and some season fruites .
As drinks basical tea , nesscoffee and milk at guest request and extracharge fresh orange juice.

Again apologee for inconvenience and wish you good time without unplesand experience

This hotel was really wonderful. Right in the middle of the Old City and right on the tram line for an easy escape to the rest of the city. The hotel was very clean, we had a double room with an ensuite bathroom. It was snug but perfectly adequate. The sheets were clean, and bathroom was fine.

This hotel has a wonderful terrace on the roof where you can bring your bottle of wine and look out onto the sea and the Blue Mosque - purely magical.

Staff were extremely helpful and there's a perfect little strip of restaurants and shops about 3 blocks away.

I recommend this hotel for anyone.

I stayed for 4 nights and couldn't have picked a better location for my first time in Istanbul, and at the right price. Located behind the Blue Mosque and walking distance to all the sights in Sultanahmet and beyond. The hotel was also on a quiet street. The rooms are basic and very clean. The walls are thin (thought the person snoring next door was in my room!) but nothing a pair of ear plugs won't fix. Breakfast on the terrace was good-bread, jams, honey, cheeses, olives, bolied eggs, tomatoes, cereal. Expect Nescafe rather than real coffee-that's just how it is. The call to prayer, being so close to the Blus Mosque, is hard to miss, but I found it quite beautiful and a highlight of my stay. The owners were almost always present and helpful. Across the street try restaurant Doy Doy, with inexpensive and delicious pide and shish kabob.

Above Average for a hostel: This is a hotel/hostel, and we stayed in the hostel portion. Originally we thought there were going to be 5 of us, and this seemed to be the perfect option. The place is extremely central. You walk out the front door and can see the Blue Mosque. The Aya Sofya is another minute away. The lobby was clean, the staff extremely helpful. There is free internet (granted it is a very old computer, but if you're patient, it works fine).

Downside: The only downside is (in the hostel portion anyway) is that it smells like smoke. If you're allergic to cigarette smoke, this is not a good place. I am not sure how the other part of the hotel is. Also - might want to being sandals for the shower. We stayed in a 6 person dorm (which we had all to ourselves) and the shower is part of the bathroom. Meaning, the shower head is almost right over the toilet. Once the first person showers, everything is wet.

Price: We paid 250 turkish liras for 2 nights, 6 beds. (This is about 150 dollars.)

  • Liked — The location and the staff
  • Disliked — The smokey smell of the room
