We flew from Katmandu to France, via Istambul, but the time between the transfer in Istanbul was 19 hours! So, we decided to stay one night at this hotel. We went to this hotel from Ataturk airport, with a taxi. The cost was 10.35 TL. At the reception of the hotel, the man can speak a little bit English. The room was small but comfortable (good mattress, clean, and the bathroom was OK). The price was 65 euros, but we paid in TL, 193 TL. That included the breakfast for 2 persons.
I gave 200 TL as payment, but it is better to give the precise amount or to pat with a card, because in many places in Turkey, they don't give you the change.
According the breakfast, they start to serve it at 7.00 am, but we had to leave at 6:30 am, so they provided us sandwiches and orange juice.
From the hotel, we visited the City center using the metro and tramway, from the station Yanibosna. We paid 3TL to buy a "jeton" (token) and you'll need 2 token. The token costs 3 TL, so it is cheap. To go to Aksaray and change to "Grand Bazar", it will take you more than 30 minutes.
And the day we need to go to the airport, we used the metro. 5 minutes to go to the station Yanibosna and 5 minutes to reach the airport. It is very convenient. In the aiport (not too fare from the metro station, there is a supermaket, where you can use your turkish currency to buy Lokum or what you want (the prices are OK).
If you want to have dinner our lunch, at only 100 m from the hotel, there is a small restaurant, the name is Memolo Kebap. we can highly recommand it. We have for dinner 3 "brochettes", Chicken and aubergin / mutton, for approximatively 40 TL. When you order anything, they provide you cucumber and tomato salad, onions, aubergins, local bread for free and in quantity, and at the end of the meal, they offered us a tea.
Not too far from the hotel, there is a bakery, with local pastries (we don't remember the name), but delicious. And many small shops if you want to buy food or drinks.
At the hotel, we had room 103. No noise during the night, except the muezzin at the pray time at 4:45... but it is everywhere in Istanbul...
And Istanbul is worthwhile!
