If you want to be in the thick of the action, this is the place. However, having written that, there is the tram running outside the hotel and if your room faces the front and you are a light sleeper, it could use you some concerns. Initially we were in room 102 and as I could not sleep the first night, the concierge was kind enough to put us in 403 which was much better. We arrived by 10am and the concierge at that time, Mr. E. Guven was kind enough to give us a room. In fact, you can not fault the concierges as they were very kind and helpful. There is an adjoining restaurant to the hotel where hotel guests also receieve 15% discount on the food. The breakfast was fine, love that yoghurt!!! From the hotel, you are within 10 minutes to just about everything including the hop on, hop off bus and the tickets can be pruchased from the concierge. The Grand Bazaar is perhaps 10 minutes away as well (opposite direction to Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, etc) . There is so much to see and do in Istanbul...it is magical..

Room Tip: Avoid front facing first floor if you are a light sleeper.

We enjoyed our stay in this boutique hotel in Old Town Istanbul. The hotel is very centrally located, only 10 to 15 minutes of walking to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Tokapi Palace, and the Grand Bazaar. This is an older hotel, but our room was clean, bright, and the room size was definitely above average. The hotel has a full restaurant and the breakfast it serves (included in the room price) was also very nice and fresh. The trolly stop is right outside the hotel, and its close proximity to all the attractions in Sultanahmet were unbeatable.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor room with the front street view

3 adults, stayed for 8 nights, 3rd floor.

Front desk managers/porter service:
Excellent! Ensured that we get our room after a 11 hour flight which arrived at 8am. Gave us a map and highlighted the main sites near us - so, even if we didn't plan anything, within 10 minutes, we are aware of what we can do in Istanbul & the day tours available. Everyone was super helpful and friendly.

Breakfast/Restaurant:
It was very considerate of the staff to ready the breakfast buffet earlier than the stipulated 7.30am, and clear the buffet later than the 10.30am. Some day tours start at 8.00am & require you to have a 10-15 minutes walk to the meeting point. So, this was very much appreciated! Some days, there are tourists who are still jetlagged & managed to bring themselves to the table at 10.15 am. So, kudos to the staff for such thoughtfulness!

Room:
Very neat, and very clean. I booked the corner suite and added an additional rollaway bed.
I have a habit of making the beds in the morning - the housekeepers noticed the way I arranged the pillows on the first day, and followed the arrangement for the rest of the 6 mornings!! Amazing personal touch! Also, the TV shows world cup.
Even though it faces the main street, by 10.00pm, it quietens down and if you close the windows, you won't even know you are by the street with a row of restaurants below.

Location:
Very convenient. Walking distance to most touristy sites.
There is a tram line just a few steps away from the front door. Very convenient to use. I suggest you download the transportation map on your phone - very helpful to get around.

Shops nearby:
There is a McDonalds across, and Starbucks beside, and Burger King down the road, if anyone is travelling with a picky eater. There is a souvenir shop just across the street. You have to walk down a flight of step to enter. The magnets were sold at 1TL each, and other souvenirs were much cheaper than at the Bazaars. Very good to shop at. There is also a mineral water stand manned by an old man. 0.75TL for 500ml and 1TL for 1litre. Great food is everywhere!

Wi-fi:
Wifi was very stable. There was a modem outside my room, so when we needed to Skype, we stood by the door. Not sure about the other rooms. Wifi at the restaurant is very stable.

If I ever return here, I would come back to Faros hotel!

Just a short walk from all the attractions of the old City .
A small hotel with very friendly staff who are too happy to please.
I must mention Bay Zulkuff.
We arrived in the morning very tired after a long flight from Australia.
Not long after we arrived we were given our room.
Thank you Mr: Zulkuff.
The breakfast is quite good combined with it,s excellent location makes this hotel most acceptable.
The Grand Bazaar, spice markets, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia are mere minutes walk away.
Then you have all the shopping and restaurants as well

Room Tip: Higher floors facing the main street are better

Our room was small but neat and comfortable, and featured a balcony with table and chairs overlooking the street, complete with roses and other plants. The breakfast was good, the usual basics plus several local specialties like excellent yogurt, honey and cherry jam. The location couldn't be better--we were able to walk to all the main sights in Sultanahmet without any difficulty.

Room Tip: The rooms on the 4th floor in front have balconies, which we really enjoyed.

Make no bones about it... This hotel is 3 star. The rooms are small, the breakfast selection is not great and all though the rooms are done to a fairly good standard less attention has been given to the hallway.

However ... Imagine walking only 7 mins, wandering around, the hippodrome, through the court yard of the blue mosque past the fountain and towards aya sofia, in the evening, when all the crowds have gone. Or waking up in the morning, having your breakfast, and walking 10 minutes down the road to see the cistern basilica. The sultan Ahmet tram stop is 1 min walk away for a leisurely trip to taksim.

The hotel owners have not compromised quality with price and you get more than fair value. Definitely worth another stay if you didn't get to see all the sites on your first visit.

We stayed at this hotel a week, in April 2014, a family with a 9 years old child and we are very satisfied. The hotel is very conveniently located, at walking distance from St. Sophia, The Blue Mosque and other places of interest and the tram stop is near. A very good thing is that no cars are allowed on the street, only trams. Lots of restaurants and shops are around the hotel. It could be noisy for people who like silent surroundings, but we liked the atmosphere. We had a very nice and big room, with an extra bed, with free internet, the hotel is very clean and the services are very good. The breakfast was rich and tasty. So we would highly recommed this hotel for a full holiday in Istanbul or a city-break. Istanbul is a lovely city, we will be back for sure.

Room Tip: Rooms on superior levels have better view.
