We enjoyed staying at Ada Hotel very much. We used two double rooms. Very clean and functional rooms. Great service. Proximity to most historical and points of interest was very convenient for us with small children. The owner Dogan was very helpful advising and arranging reasonable cost transportation to places we wanted to visit, including free transportation from and to airport. Excellent breakfast with a view of sea of Marmara. Minibar prices were the same as if you yourself purchased them from a market !

We stayed at the Ada Hotel and it was just right for us. It was extremely clean and everyone was so helpful. One of the most important things for us was that they had a "house phone" in which we were encouraged to use to call home at no cost to us or to them. We just dialed the phone as if we were in the U.S. That in itself was just fantastic. We could walk to all of the attractions and restaurants. We felt very safe and secure. We had a triple room and everything was so convenient. I would highly recommend this hotel.

-Hotel services are great, staff are very kind and friendly, the management shows perfect hospitality, staff speacking English which is very important to tourists.
-Rooms are big (bigger than the regular hotel rooms) with perfect views for the upper floor rooms.
-Perfect location to the historical areas and to Marmara sea, lots of historical monuments around and can be reached by walking within minuts.
-many things make this Hotel so special, above all the great terrace where we had our breakfast in as it shows a perfect panoranic view of Marmara sea.

My wife and I stayed at Ada Hotel in a double room with sea view June 11-14, 2009. Let me say first that without Dr. Dogan's (owner) hosting, advice, and conversations while still would have been a very good B&B, he took it to a much higher level. When we first got to the hotel (at 7 AM from an overnight flight) via a pre-arranged Taxi service from Ataturk that Dr. Dogan had set-up, we were greeted as friends and invited for the breakfast service and our room even though we were much earlier than the check-in time. When we got to our room we truly felt this was a second Honeymoon given the view from the room. The room was very tastefully furnished and immaculate. The posted pictures of the hotel do not do it justice...it is much nicer than the pictures! The hotel is in a great neighborhood and minutes (walking) to the Sultan Ahmet mosque, Hagia Sofia, Topkapi palace, Islamic museum, and a host of many restaurants. It is about 20 minutes walk to the Grand Bazaar, and a 15 minute metro ride to the night life/shopping of Taksim Sq. and Istiklal street. Breakfast is very good and is served in the Terrace with an even better view than our room (higher floor). Dr. Dogan can advise you on where to go for various places and he also runs a tour company that can arrange various sites in and out of Istanbul. They also provided a Taxi service on our trip out to the airport. The ADA Hotel is a MUST in you stay in Istanbul.

My wife and I stayed at Ada for three nights and had a wonderful experience. The hotel has a fantastic location within very close walking distance to the major tourist sights, Blue Mosque, St. Sophia etch.

When we arrived we they upgraded our room free of charge and it had a lovely view of the sea. The staff were always extremely helpful in helping us find a hammam, they bought tickets to various tours for us and were always extremely friendly. Our first morning we woke up after breakfast was finished but they insisted that they still fix us something (the rooftop where you eat is fantastic.)

The only odd thing that happened was that the cost per night was in Euros and not Lira so the stay was a bit more expensive than we thought it would be. However, we noticed this in many places in Istanbul. We quickly learned to ask how whether things were priced in Euros or Lira.

But again, it was a great stay in a wonderful room with wonderful service.

We stayed at the Ada twice, once at the beginning and again at the end of our trip to Turkey. The hosts, Dr. Dogan and his wife, truly made us feel at home. They were attentive and courteous in all ways. In a city where so many people are always trying to sell you something, you have no idea how good this can feel after a day of dealing with endless "business men" trying to sell you carpets, and waiters trying to lure you into their restaurants. The low key relaxed friendliness of Dr. Dogan and his wife is a wonderful relief at the end of a long day.

The hotel has an excellent location close to most major sites in Istanbul. In addition, it borders an interesting neighborhood (in the opposite direction from all the tourist sites) where artisans work and live and you can get a glimpse of the real Istanbul while climbing the city's hills and enjoying the views. To my surprise there were several beautiful Armenian (I think) churches in the same area that don't get mentioned in the tourist brochures but that provide an interesting contrast to the world of Islam.

The breakfast is on the rooftop and the food and views are superb. Our room was a little small but the space was excellently laid out with room to put all of our belongings -- something that I often miss in smaller hotels. Everything is spotless.

I've noted that some reviewers complain of rooms in the basement, etc. Well, you can check the web site and request a room with a view (as I did) if this is a concern. We had exactly the room and the view that we requested. In fact, when we returned to the hotel at the end of our trip, Dr. Dogan thoughtfully gave us the same room again -- it was like coming home. The other complaint I've seen from some reviews concerns noise. It is true that there is a mosque near the hotel and the call to prayer is very early in the morning. I wasn't bothered by this, but if it's an issue for you, you should bring earplugs. And, by the way, if you're visiting other places in Turkey, you should be aware that there's almost always a mosque nearby. It is a Moslem country after all. You get used to it and for me it became part of the charm of the place. It shouldn't detract from your experience at the Ada.
