“Best attention I´ve ever had in a hotel”

I stayed in this small, family-runned hotel with my mother and girlfriend from may 27 to june 6 and the owner really cared about us in every minute of our stay. Dr. Dogan will help you with EVERYTHING you may need with dedication, currency exchange, places to go, shuttle to any place, maps, directions, recommendations, etc, etc. We left at 3:00 o´clock in the morning and he was awake just to say bye to us!!!. The rooms are extremly clean, location is excellent for first time visitors, breakfast is excellent, free wi-fi signal is excellent and if you don´t have a computer, there´s a public laptop in the lobby you can use anytime. In conclusion I´ll recommend it to anybody!.

I've been traveling to Istanbul since 1959, now my 23rd trip. This hotel is the best that I've stayed in. My recent visit was the first at Hotel Ada but I'll return to it again and again.

Run by a retired professor and his wife, everything about this hotel is stellar. A jacuzzi in every room and situated in Sultanahmet, you can easily walk to dozens of sites without the hassle of the New City.

My partner and I spent a week in the Ada hotel in May and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. We would agree entirely with all of the earlier great reviews. In particular, we loved the central location which made it very convenient to come to in the afternoons for a break from sightseeing and convenient for sightseeing and restaurants. We found Mr. Sumengan and his family to be extremely helpful and kind, rather like a host rather than a hotel proprietor. In particular when we thought that we had a problem with our flights home on the last night we were there, Mr. Sumengan could not have been of more assistance and sorted the confusion out for us.Also the breakfasts are wonderful with great choice fo fresh fruits and delicious yoghurt and honey. Everywhere was spotless and our room, the de luxe suite was a real treat to stay in.All in all this hotel was a very friendly haven in the middle of a very busy and noisy city, a home away from home and we loved every minute of it. We would love to go back there and would highly recommend it.

We traveled to Istanbul with our children and stayed at the Hotel Ada for ten days. The hotel is within walking distance to the Blue Mosque and the Haggia Sophia. Breakfast on the upper floor had a lovely view of the water, and the variety of foods was enough to satisfy our picky younger child.

During our stay, our son became quite ill and the hosts could not have been more gracious and accommodating during this time. This is not a full-service hotel, but simple requests were met and handled efficiently. Fussy and demanding Americans should stay away, but if you are mostly self-sufficient, you will do well here.

If traveling with a family, ask for the two rooms with an adjoining foyer on the first floor. Be aware, however, that you will be on street level and can hear the foot and automobile traffic during the day. There is little to no night life in this area of town, so during the night the noise is virtually nonexistent.

Stayed four nights in a larger room w/ pull-out couch and plenty of space. Bright, clean and quiet, amazing views and remodeled everything. Elevator to haul heavy bags upstairs.

Excellent location for tourism. 10 minute walk to the Blue Mosque, 15 to Hagia Sofia and tram line, 20 to Topkopi Palace and the covered Bazaar. There is a small market one short block away for snacks, wine, sodas, beer, but the stuff in the mini bar is priced very fair. Also, a good chicken / rice / pita place across from the market for a quick bite at crazy low prices.

Breakfast (included) is great with fresh fruit, bread, tea and coffee on the outside terrace overlooking the sea - a great way to start the day. The innkeeper is very friendly, speaks English very well, and will arrange tours, etc. Just ask.

Extra - Free pick-up from the airport. Really appreciated when you first arrive. Cab to airport is 60 lira or 30 euro or 40 US$. Free wireless.
Think about - Right across the street from a mosque that begins call to prayer at what seems like 4.30am; wife liked it, me not so much.
Downside - At 179 euro / night a bit spendy. But since they were completely booked most of the week we were there, it's clearly not "over priced." The basic rooms are "European cramped," but only 109 euro (we moved after one night to the larger room.)

Tip: Many places take euro at about 2:1, but smaller places take only Turkish lira.

My wife and I stayed here before our cruise and were glad to find out the previous positive reviews were all accurate. Dr. Doggan Sumengen and Eva are gracious hosts and very helpful. The room was clean and very comfortable. Breakfasts were amazing and with a great view of the sea of Marmara. We walked to everything and could not have been more pleased with this stay. We definitely recommend the Ada.

My friends and I had the pleasure of staying at the Ada in Sultanamet several days while in Istanbul. The location is only blocks from the Blue Mosque, but on a very quiet street.
The rooms are immaculate, roomy, good breakfast, and the owner is extrememly helpful.
They even have a free telephone direct to the US for your use. We were able to store our luggage there while we toured western Turkey. Highly recommended.
