The hotel is bang in the centre of the Sultanahmet District with the Haghia Sophia on one side and the Blue Mosque,Cistern and Museums just up the road. The Hotel appears to be used by both tourist and returning business travelers - always a good sign in our book.
The staff are friendly and genuinely nice. The rooms at the front face onto a road with the main tram line and are perhaps a problem if you are a light sleeper - we were immediately moved to the quieter side of the hotel by a gracious hotel manager when we mentioned that we found it a little noisy at night. Both rooms were pleasant - polished wood floors, clean comfortable beds, flatscreen tv, ensuite with plenty of very HOT water [caution]. Some slight drain smell in both ensuites [due to lack of bend/P traps on sinks/baths/shower trays]… but not a significant problem.
The buffet breakfast is excellent and runs until 1030 am: great choices of hot dishes, cold meats/cheese/fruits and salad.
We had dinner at the Hotel two evenings - there is a choice of semi-covered courtyard or an enclosed formal upstairs dining room. The dishes on offer are classical Turkish with emphasis on recipes from the old kitchen records of the Sultan's Palace. We both enjoy lamb dishes and the Zire-Ba lamb with honey/almond/apricot was both splendid and unique. We drank a little red and white wine from Anatolia - both were excellent. The service was friendly and professional on both occasions.
Next year, Inshallah, we will return to Istanbul and to this great little Hotel…..

We were relocated here by British Airways after they messed up our hotel booking. The hotel is in a terrific location, right in the centre of the Old Town - making all the sights really east to walk to. It has a very attractive outside and the reception area is fine. Main restaurant has a good feel to it and is meant to be excellent food - we did not eat here. We were given the option of two rooms - one on the front - with a wall as a view, so we elected for one at the back, which is just above a very busy street, with trams etc. Noisy but didn't worry us. Small and needs a re-fresh - shower was dirty - after unpacking used the toilet facility only to discover it didnt flush. Told reception who said it would be fixed within the hour, When we returned it wasn't and they said would we mind not using it until the morning......we kicked off and were moved to another room a few doors up - a bit cleaner but a least it worked!
Bar and restaurany staff were surly and unhelpful - coul not wait to get rid of us...only decent member of staff was the bellboy.
Shame as the position of the hotel is great but it needs plenty spending on it!

The hotel location is fantastic if you are in Istanbul to see the main sites. Its a big city so you need to choose your location carefully. The main sites are literally on your doorstep! The hotel staff are friendly and as it was my birthday upgraded us to a better room (ground floor near reception), but even so we were a little disappointed. The team showed us an alternative 3-4 rooms but we chose the upgrade option as the best. Facilities are basic and the decor is a little tired. The wifi reception is also very tempremental, which for us was an issue. Breakfast was average. Nevertheless ....had a lovely trip and love Istanbul.

Room Tip: The upstairs room smelled a little musty. We stayed ground floor near reception and were worried it...

Our family of 3 (2 adults and a 8 year old little boy) stayed there for three nights in April when we visited Istanbul. Loved it that it is right smack in the middle of everything and most places of interest was within walking distance.

When we arrive, the PR Exec gave us a round down of what we can do around the area and that was really helpful. The staff were also quite friendly and helpful.

The breakfast room is rather small so if you want to get a seat (especially if you have more than two pax in a group), it will be advisable to wake earlier to catch a good seat.

The only thing that really disappointed me though was that a few hours after we left the hotel, we realized that we had forgotten to remove the cash we left inside the safebox. We immediately called the hotel to inform them and they told us that they will help us search.

The next day, they told us that they got a technician and a staff to try to open the safebox using the master key and they couldnt find anything inside. They kept asking us to search and see if we had kept it elsewhere but we were sure we did not remove it from the safebox.

I give it to them that their PR dept followed up with an email to said they tried to search all over the hotel again. But I felt it was ridiculous that they kept saying that we might have kept the cash elsewhere even though they had to use the master key to open it. If it was locked, there must have been something inside... And we were certain we left our cash inside and did not take it out again.

This left a bitter aftertaste of what could have been a sweet turkish delight ending of our trip.

My husband and I have recently arrived home from a fantastic trip to Istanbul. The Ottoman Imperial hotel was wonderful, the staff were very friendly and hospitable and couldn't do enough for you. They even sent a birthday cake to our room as I had recently celebrated my 50th birthday. The room was great with a twist of Turkish charm and faced sideways onto the Aya Sophia. The staff were also very knowledgeable and offered us good advice and help in booking many of the trips we went on. We definitely recommend this hotel and hope to visit again one day. Thank you...

Room Tip: Room 306 great.

Understandably many reviewers emphasize the Ottoman Hotel Imperial's wonderful and convenient location. It couldn't be better. But, most memorable and special was the excellent and friendly service. Turkish hospitality at its best. Always a smile, and always a willingness to be helpful. Every aspect of our experience was excellent from making the reservation to responsiveness to pre-arrival questions to our stay itself. We stayed in the main building which is lovely and has character.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 406 which was lovely. Great natural light and view of the Aya Sofia. Highly reco...

We had a week in Istanbul and absolutely loved it. The ottoman imperial hotel was a great location (near bazaar and the grand tourist sites), staff were very helpful. The concierge Delara gave a lovely welcome and helped with everything- where's a hairdresser/restaurant/how do we catch a train to our next destination etc. She went out of her way to find out information we needed. Good wi fi access. Room fairly ordinary but clean, kept supplied with self-making tea and coffee.
