“Nice rooms, excellent breakfast, conveniently located”
Reviewed 29 May 2013

I stayed here for 6 nights while visiting Istanbul. It is very conveniently located as it is only a five minute walk from the Osmanbey Metro stop. It's convenient, but I wouldn't necessarily reccomend staying here if you're a tourist trying to see some of Istanbul's famous sights, as it is pretty far away from Sultanahmet, although only one stop away from Taksim.

The rooms are nice and spacious, the service was good, and a few of the staff spoke English. One thing that stood out was breakfast, which had a very nice selection of cheeses, bread, fruits, vegetables, and pastries. The only negative I found was that the walls seemed to be pretty thin and we could hear the room next to us at times, but it never posed a problem while sleeping.

Room Tip: I'd try to get a room on the end of the hall. This puts you away from the staircase/elevator, an...

I spent 5 nights in Fatih and overall I was satisfied with the place. The rooms are clean and spacious, big variety at breakfast, friendly environment. Staff doesn't speak much English but they are very friendly and they do anything possible to help you. They are less professional compared to hotel staff in western countries but it's part of the Istanbul experience.
The hotel is not very easy to find, I agree with a previous review, but once you locate it, there is no problem. The location in general is nice and quite, the metro station (Osmanbey) very close but not as convenient as Taksim square would be if you want to be somewhere central and have access to all sorts of transportation.

Fatih Hotel is located at the heart of business area of Osmanbay. Osmanbay is one of the tree textile centers of Istanbul. Also is 100 meters from the Metro station, one stop before the Taksim Square. The area is next to the area Nisantasi, the most fashionable district. But the most remarkable in Fatih Hotelis the management and staff of Hotel. They do everything to help, your stay is productive and enjoyable! I visit Fatih Hotel 5 times every year, and I don't change it with any other hotel

Room Tip: Every room is good, but if you go not for business, better are the rooms that not face the Osmanbey...

This hotel is difficult to find and they provide totally false directions for local transport (there are 4 stops, changing all possible transport means, and not one from the airport and even a local would get confused). I took a speedy bus Havas and had to take metro to Osmanbey and then got lost because hotel didn't provide directions following my mail (it is actually 3 mins from the metro but on one of many side streets). The rooms are OK (but forget the nice official photos) if you don't mind flooding under the tub every time you have a shower and that you have to wait 5 mins. for the hot water to start. The staff is kind and would promise to fix things but that does not happen if you don't insist. I felt uncomfortable leaving my laptop in the room becouse the safety box is so small it can only get your wallet in. The breakfast is terrible here, never had it so bad! On a pros side it is close to Taksim and to the biggest mall in Europe (one stop each), it is in the quiet area and the rooms are relatively clean.
But if you go there insist to get the price you fixed over the net because they first try to pretend they didn't know that price (which is acting normal in Istanbul). It is also cheap but all in all I felt uncomfortable.

  • Liked — some of the staff were very helpful
  • Disliked — feeling of insecurity
