“Good location and good value yet poor management”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2014

The hotel is located in a good place for tourist attactions (Tram station right in front of the hotel to the old town, Taksim and Bosphorus destinations in proximity). The staff was helpful too. The hotel looks like it has not been renovated in quite some time. Breakfast was also disappointing.

Beautiful view from the room and very nice people. I stayed in this hotel 7 days and really loved it ! The location is close to everything. I felt sad when i was leaving i took pictures from my beautiful room to remember the good time in this hotel. The breakfast was really good! The reception helped me allot and adviced me with what to do in istanbul. I defenitly recommend this hotel and i wil be back a soon as possible. Thank you for the great hospitality.

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel in Jan 2014. It could be a good hotel, location, views etc but was let down by extremely poor housekeeping. The room was dirty. Dust on walls, lampshades, and under the bed was dead cockroaches, food etc. Yuk!! Very disappointing!!

The website makes a lot of the sound proof glazing which is required given the traffic on the coast road at the front of the hotel. These are not too bad and you only hear slight humm from road / tram. However they have completely forgotten to soundproof between the rooms which given relatively small size and proximity to other rooms is a real issue. You can hear the conversation in the room next to you fairly easily and the default setting for the TV is very loud. This means that when the room next door turn their TV on that is located on the wall behind your bed you get to hear it as though it is on in your room. 3 of the 4 nights I stayed the TV went on at 24:00 or later which is a pain when you need to be up at 06:00.

There are also a range of minor issues which stop this hotel living up to its looks, the wet room style show is not positioned correctly and water flows across the bathroom and towards the hall, without the air conditioning on the room smells slightly musty (probably connected to the bathroom) and the breakfast is pretty bland.

The only redeeming feature was that the staff were helpful but as there are a lot of better hotels near by do not stay here.

Room Tip: As for sea view but suggest maybe at another hotel

The Hotel is placed in front of the tram way and this is a good point if you are interested to be near Taksim square. It is actually 10 minute walk to Taksim but the problem is that it is not easy to walk for old people because taksim is like 100 m higher than see level which the hotel is located. so the whole way to taksim have a sharp slope.
The building of the hotel is quite good. It is a new and modern hotel in my point of view but the service sucks. At the time of arrival which was around 11:00 Am, it took nearly 45 min to check in although there was just one person before me. The person in the reception answers phone all the time and even don't care to tell the caller to wait for moment to answer people who are waiting there for a long time.
After all these we could just ask the guy to leave out luggages to go out because he told the room will not be available before 14:00 which I don't complain about.
The next problem was that although i had paid the whole amount at the time of reservation they charged me again for the same amount of money and I just find out this when I checked my bank account. When I asked the reception to explain he said they have canceled the second payment. But i got the money back into my account 8 days later!!!
I had the triple room and there was just two set of towel, shampoo and so on.
The last problem was at the time of checking out. The guy at the reception told me that I have to pay 164 TRY more for the rooms although I had paid all the costs at the time of reservation. After 15 min of discussion he understood that the difference is due to currency exchange difference.

Views of the Bosphorus from room window is nice. Everything else is a letdown.
We booked a luxury suite advertised for 4 persons, but our children had to share a 140 cm wide sofa bed, hard springs, 5 cm thick mattress. Our own bed was wide enough - but at 180 cms far too short! Service consisted of bringing us the bedsheets for the sofa bed and leaving us to make the bed ourselves. Not the end of the world in a reasonably cheap hotel, but at € 330 per night we expect better than that. The room could only be called a suite because it had a sliding door potentially separating it into two spaces; however, it was really a long but rather narrow double room. Only a shower room, not bath, and only towels for two, not four - despite our repeated requests. Electrics failed in the middle of the night - a ceiling light started flashing intermittently and would not stop. When we raised all this the next day we were offered a different room - the same as the one we had, including the same standard, too- short beds. So we decided to leave. We had booked for two nights; we asked the management to waive the "no refund for cancellation" policy for our second night. They wouldn't hear of it, were singularly unhelpful, and pocketed our additional € 330 without flinching. It was their right - but certainly did not leave us feeling that they did anything at all for us. We felt cheated and strongly recommend avoiding this hotel.

Enjoyed a 2 night stay at the Marbien ... very convenient tram location right in front of the hotel that can take you to all of the tourist spots. Yet the hotel is located away from the crush of people providing a nice view and easy access for walking along the the Bosphorus. Also close to the Taksim shopping district.
Rooms were clean and well kept ... definitely a place to relax after a busy day out in the crowds.
Only improvement would be a few restaurants a little closer to the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for the Bosphorus view ... open the window early in the morning for the fresh breeze ... may not...
