We recently stayed here two separate weeks. We loved it so much we wanted to come back after renting an apartment. They are so friendly that upon our return it felt like coming home. The service was the best. Okay and Esgi took such good care of us. Esgi even went to the hospital with my wife when she was sick when we first arrived and stayed with her for 6hrs in Emergency. They were so kind to our kids and gave everyone presents when we left. The rooms were ample and clean. The beds were nice and they give you an option of pillows. The breakfast buffet was always fresh and the kids loved it. We also loved the little sandwiches put out at tea time. The location is perfectly set near a tram stop and walking distance to all the important sites. Getting around from this hotel was too easy and they were always eager to help with directions and advice. And don't forget about the Turkish baths downstairs. We traveled for 3 months around the world and the Sirkeci was the best hotel we stayed at--service, comfort and food. There is nothing second best about this hotel. I give it my highest recommendation and look forward to going back.

This hotel could teach the art of customer service to other hotels. I just returned from staying four nights at the Sirkeci Konak in Istanbul with a group of four friends, and speaking only for myself, but the experience was definitely one to be treasured. From the moment the ‘hotel-arranged-driver-and-van’ greeted us at the airport to when the driver dropped us off five days later back at the airport, the staff could not do enough to make me feel welcome and comfortable. They were always there with a smile and pleasant conversation. I had a superior single room which was spacious, very clean, and with a small balcony which overlooked the park across the street (part of the gardens of Topkapi Palace). The view to the right was of the minarets and domes of the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, and to the left was the Bosphorous.

The location of the hotel could not have been better. Fifteen to twenty minutes to the Grand Bazaar (yes, part of the walk is uphill, but it’s not steep); 10-15 minutes to Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque; and 15 minutes in another direction to the water where you can hire a boat for a tour. The hotel is situated on a side street off the main tourist road coming down from Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace (less than a block).

Breakfast was plentiful and tasty (and included in the price). Once out of the hotel, to the right half a block is a street full of fantastic restaurants and shops. Try the Faros Restaurant – excellent food, and a ‘little show’ put on by the brothers who own/run the restaurant. Ask for Eddie as your waiter.

I’m looking to return to Istanbul in July, then again in November; but only if the Sirkeci Konak is available.

We arrived at the Serkeci a few days late after the volcano disrupted the world's airlines. The staff upgraded us no charge to a deluxe room, and assisted us with some lost luggage. The hamam in the basement has a co-ed turkish bath and sauna; very rare in Istanbul! The restaurant is excellent, and the breakfast buffet and free wireless make this hotel a real deal. To top it off, the best carpet and kilim shop in town is a few doors down (Arsah), with Hussein and his brother Mehmet offering no-nonsense prices and a terrific collection of antique tribal carpets. I have decided to come thru Istanbul on all my trips to Asia just so I can buy more of their tribal kilims--my husband even bought one for himself instead of complaining that i had bought too many! I can't recommend this place more highly. It is a 15 min walk to all the main attractions too!

The staff at this hotel were over the top in terms of doing anything they could to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. When we went by taxi anywhere, they even confirmed with the taxi driver exactly where we were going and the approximate cost (very helpful when you don't speak the language!). Our room was lovely, with a balcony overlooking a beautiful park and the water. The cooking lesson on Friday afternoon was great fun and we ate in the hotel one evening and the meal was excellent. Wonderful location for walking to many of the main attractions. Would definitely stay there again!

The hotel is located in an alley very close to the historical center of Istanbul. There a few hardware store in the alley which I don’t find it an issue. The hotel interior is very authentic and nice and clean. Rooms are a little bit small but this is a historical area of town and everything thing is small. Staff and extremely friendly. I would definitely go back there again.

The hotel was very well located, walking distance to all the sights in Sultanahmet and the tram, but tucked away in a side street, so the hotel was very quiet, away from all the hawkers and tourist traps. Felt very safe. The rooms and bathrooms were impeccably clean, and had all the amenities. What made the stay special was the staff. Everyone was very warm and welcoming, very helpful with directions, calling cabs, and even making reservations for us. Service was very personal. The afternoon teas were a welcome breather from frantic sightseeing, and energized us for further expeditions in the evening. The welcome dinner (while only so-so compared to other Turkish fare we tried) was very helpful for our arrival day, when we were still trying to get our bearings and did not want to go out searching for a restaurant.
