“Not the end of the world.”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

After a bad experience previously in my trip, I was nervous about going to this hotel as it was recommended by a travel agent that had so far failed to deliver. Once I got there I felt a little better and the next 7 days wasn't too bad.
The whole hotel was kept quite clean and tidy but it is a maze of corridors and split floors across 2 buildings. The staff are nice accept for one day when the regulars weren't there and then there was a language problem. The room was cosy enough and everything worked.
Unfortunately, this hotel is situated in the garment district of Istanbul right next to a construction site. I'm sure that the construction site will not last forever but the area itself may leave the average traveller feeling disappointed. It is a bustling area which only takes a 1 day off a week. The streets are jammed with cars and vans and can get pretty noisy during the day. It is close enough to the charms of the Old City to be quite convenient but this is not tourist Turkey.
My impression of this hotel is that it is a trade hotel with most guests coming to buy clothing wholesale for their businesses back home. The foyer always has big bags of clothes sitting around. It isn't your typical holiday stay at all but if you do find yourself there then it isn't the end of the world.

Staff of the hotel are very rude and not a single English word!!! They were cheats waiting to punce on you. First they insisted on keeping our passports and after much protest I got it back. The Hotel is a dungeon. The table cloths were covered in Emirates Airlines Blankets. This should give you an idea of what sort of Hotel this is.

We were booked to stay here for 3 nights but ended up leaving the next day as it was not safe. And we did not get an apology or refund. The taxi they arranged for us to the other Hotel was another scam.

I stayed in this hotel during my trip to Istanbul in May 2013. It wasn't my choise, but the travel agency's one. It is centrally located, pretty close to most of the tourist sites. There are many bars, restaurants and shops in the area, so it is very noisy, but this is typial for any hotel in Laleli neighbourhood.

What bothered me most were the rooms. They look very old and dirty. The breakfast doesn't offer any variety. Compared to other hotels where I stayed during my visits to the city, this is the worst.

What you pay is what you get. Very cheap , old , crowdy , noisy hotel ! Right in the Aksaray zone, poor neighbourhood. Maximum 2 star hotel. The only plus was the breakfast, staff and price.
Avoid this hotel !

Room Tip: Avoid B section

I stayed at Art Hotel for 2 nights 30.04-02.05.2013. It's nothing special, is not so bad, but to get inside the hotel is fatiguing, i and my wife climbed about 20 stairs with baggage.
HOTEL ART IS NOT FOR FAMILY OR OLD MANS.
At reception like story, has everywhere big packages.
Good location, Aksaray, tram station is 5 min walk. Many shops, restaurants, 20 min walk to Grand Bazar and touristic area, near metro station which enable you to go to airport directly, and cheap (3 lira). Breakfest is acceptable.
Difficult to understanding with personal, nobody speak english, only turkish

Location is good, so you can walk till Grand Bazar(10-15mins), Hagia Sophia and Blue mosque(20-30mins), or go there by tram which station is close to hotel. Many small shops around with boring sellers. Breakfast was okay, room clean, but bit dark as window was too small. Staff is friendly but their english is too bad. Wifi worked perfectly at lobby and sometimes it worked in room. Istanbul is beautiful
