“Very good hotel variable service”
Reviewed 26 April 2012

I have stayed number of times at this hotel as it is arguably the best one on the asian side of Istanbul.

It is on very good location if you are on business in Istanbul as it is very close to major roads. Furthermore, it is only 10 mins (though can be 30mins if traffic) to cosmopolitan and nice Bagdat Caddesi (street) where you could find plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops.

I particularly like the rooms in this hotel. They are very spacious. If you are in one of the high floors it also gives you good views of the princess islands and the entrance of the bosphorous (not as spectacular as you could get on the hotels from the European side).

Hotel has a very good restaurant and a bar with friendly staff.

The downside of the hotel is that there is nothing immediately next to it and you would need a taxi to get almost anywhere (which are available 24/7). In addition there are 3-4 shopping centers in less than 10mins drive.

I also found that, the service in the hotel is variable, sometimes you get awkward experiences through reservation and room cleaning, sometimes they are perfect. I suspect this is due to managerial changes that the hotel have gone through in the past months.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor room that faces to the princess islands.

I had quite an extensive stay in the hotel in August 2011, during the the holy month of Ramadan. Rooms are very clean, large and well equipped. Bathrooms are quite spacious. Very nice executive lobby on the last floor with an amazing view to the Asian part of Istanbul and the sea. The downsides are - location: quite far away from the European part and the Ataturk airport, as well as the smelly neighborhood of a market for fruits and vegetables.

Room Tip: Definitely higher floor - Istanbul drivers are in my top 10 list of the worst and most noisy drivers...

I stayed at this hotel to accompany my husband on his business trip (his office is in Asia part). We supposed to stay 3 nights with corporate rate (Sunday to Wednesday) but we decided to add one more night from Saturday which I booked from booking.com for EUR 90.88 weekend rate. Location, like others said, it's very far from historic areas (Sultanahmet). It cost us 90 Lira (EUR 40) by taxi at night to get here from the Ataturk airport. When we arrived, we informed the reception staff that we would stay until Wednesday but he said that the corporate rate (EUR 144/night included breakfast) is only for 1 person and we have to pay EUR 30 extra per night for 2 occupancy. Usually 5 star hotels will never charge you extra for double occupancy, as long as only 1 person who get the breakfast (we used to stay at Hyatt) but he insisted that we have to pay whether I take the breakfast or not. The next morning, we decided to cancel the remaining stays since we thought it's not worth to pay additional EUR 90 in total and I still have to pay for the taxi to the historic parts everyday because there is no other transportation, not even a shuttle from the hotel to the nearest metro bus station. And with the awful traffic in Istanbul, I don't think I could stand it. We finally move to other hotel in Sultanahmet area and we glad we did it! One more thing, my husband left his IPhone charger in the room when we check out, and the next day he came back to the hotel and asked about this, but they could not find it. The staffs are not helpful at all.

The hotel offers a very good experience.
The rooms are large, clean and if you stay at a higher level you also have a good view.
The hotel is located in the Asian part of the city and if you have to go the European part of the city this will take some while.
The restaurant is good, we had good experiences for breakfasts and dinner.
The staff was very friendly and I had a great time there.

Room Tip: The higher you are the better the view.

4/5 star hotel/rooms/service slightly let down by the location - 15 minute taxi ride from the Harem ferry boat. The advantage, however, was the pleasure of the ferry crossing (remarkably rapid and efficient) and the morning view on the way to the Old City and the nightime scene on the return to the hotel.

Nothing of a tourist interest anywhere near the hotel, but Bagdat Avenue (which runs for miles along the southern shore) looked like a fantastic shopping area with a great evening buzz.

Let's face it - from touristic perspective this hotel is in the middle of nowhere. But if you do business on Asian side you'll be happy with it. It has decent rooms, great spa and wellness center. Breakfast is also pretty good. I'd stay there again (already did several times) and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place in that area.

Room Tip: Try to get a high floor room facing the Bosphorus.

Hotel location is on the Asian side of Istanbul and is relatively isolated. There is a large mall relatively nearby but if looking for ease of access to touristic sites I would suggest another hotel on the European side. That said, due to its relative isolation, the reception staff are extremely helpful with planning trips and also recommending good restaurants.

Clean, spacious rooms with a large bathroom. Even found a little signed and dated sheet under the bed saying that 'they look here too'.

Executive lounge was nice, good selection for breakfast - only slightly limited compared to the paid breakfast buffet in the restaurant downstairs (I tried both).

Internet was expensive. A 24 hours access pass ranged between 17-27 Euros - approximately the price I pay for a whole month at home. Internet is free in the lobby by obtaining 30 minute passes at the lobby. Unfortunately, these worked rarely. I used free internet access 4 times for which I had to get in total almost 15 of these free passes. Only in 2 cases did their logins work. In two other cases I was offered a free internet pass for 1 hr and 24 hrs.

Decent gym with staff to help train if needed. Sauna and steam room - small but they work.

Good points for nice rooms, cleanliness, friendly staff and extras such as sauna and steam room. Bad points for location (if aim is tourism) and internet access.
