This was our first trip to Istanbul so we weren't sure where to stay. We split it up. First two nights in Old City, at Sirceki Konan; next two nights at Urban Suites near Taxim Square; and the last night (after a week in Cappadocia and the south) at Sumahan. A great way to end the trip. It really is right on the water. Our restaurant table was six feet from the water. Everything was top notch. The first room they picked for us was right on top of the restaurant, with table noise drifting up to our open window. But they quickly, graciously moved us to the other end, and it was perfect.

we stayed at that hotel last year first time and we were there again last week..we were planned to be there to see fire Works at the bridge for our foundation day..29 th of October..
It was amazing..since we stayed there before , this time we were like at home , just after checked in we were lying on our chairs placed on the garden near the Bosphorus reading our books if we can since the view is not letting you..
simple but well designed rooms , friendly but in a distance workers..just go there..

Next to the water! Bosphorus can be experiencedthiso intimately only from such a facility. I don't like tall hotel buildings. Sumahan is just 2 levels. A historic factory renovated and turned into one of the best luxury hotels in Istanbul. Pricy yet worth it. Restaurant is even closer to the sea! Professional and fine staff.

I was hesitant to book this hotel, it is a bit pricey, and it does not immediately evoke thoughts of exotic Istanbul. But staying here was one of the best decisions we made. Sumahan on the Water is the ultimate class act. Serene, magnificent, gracious and seductive. The design invokes the industrial history of the building without being in the least bit sterile. The pictures of this hotel do not do it justice. We had the second smallest category of room, but when they opened the door for us, we gasped - both at the view, and the appearance of the room.

The professionalism and warmth of the staff is what you expect at a Four Seasons, but with a genuineness that is never encountered at even so lofty a chain. My friend took a bad fall at a restaurant, and they had received word before we even got back to the hotel. They supplied bandages, antiseptic, and were so solicitious we were stunned. The in-room wood fireplace, (these guys know how to lay a fire) provided the solace we needed after the accident, and produced such a sense of well-being that I am still in awe two weeks later.

The restaurant was delicious - and...did I mention the world class view?

Being on the Asian side is a little immersion in village life. Plenty to do, but with a brief respite from being a typical tourist. We were in Istanbul for 7 nights (not enough). Two nights on the Asian side was essential to experiencing the city (three would have been better), but the Sumahan is not a one-time experience. I will be back - it is a destination in and of itself - one not to be missed.

Room Tip: I do not believe there can be a bad room, but if you upgrade from the cheapest to "Deluxe"...

I stayed here on my third visit back to Istanbul in 2 weeks, having stayed in Sultanhamet before. Whilst staying in Sultanhamet is handy for the first visit as it is so central to the "must sees", the sheer number of tourists can become overwhelming. Sumahan on Water was a lovely way to end my holiday. It was peaceful, had beautiful views of the Bosphorous, which you could sit and watch all day long, but only 15 minutes to the hustle and bustle. Romantic rooms, great service, and the most amazing hamman. If I am lucky enough to go back to Istanbul, there is no doubt about where I will stay!

Sumahan on the Water not only has the finest rooms with very thoughtful and elegantly presented accessories but you can not find a better view of the Bosphors anywhere in Istanbul. All rooms have the Bosphorus views. When dinning at their famous Tapasuma restaurant you are a stone throw away from the Bosphorus and the activity of the most beautiful waterway is always in view from your table not to mention the creative cuisine you will experience. This Hotel is one of the Worlds BEST - 10 out of 10

This place is pure class and style , loved the layout and decor , and the private hammam in the room was amazing.
The bosphorus view was beautiful we stayed just for 2 nights but was a really nice treat - if there was one thing i was a little upset that they wanted to charge us extra to use the spa facilities even though we were staying there.
