“Wonderful view, great stay!”
Reviewed 16 July 2014 via mobile

I have been staying on the European side for years, but since my office is on the Asian side I tried Sumahan. It saved me considerable travelling time between hotel and office. Also, it is close to the second bridge so getting to the European side was relatively easy. However, this is Istanbul and one needs to allow an hour to get anywhere, no matter where you stay!
The hotel is a gem, with great views of the Bosphorus and the ships going by. Staff were great. The shower was in the bath, which is a pet hate, but the loft rooms have seperate showers. Also, the bottom floor rooms have access to the lawn which looked quite nice.
Restaurant Sumahan offers modern food with a Turkish spin and the wine list has so e French wines, although mostly local wines. We had a great evening under the stars enjoying the busy waterway.
Highly recommended.

We have stayed at this place for one night last weekend. It has a breathtaking view and very cosy place. Rooms are good size but be careful ceilings are low however they cannot do anything about this because these waterfront properties cannot make changes in their structures. Staff was welcoming but we were not impressed by the breakfast. We have anticipated more (variety, tastes, etc) from this breakfast since Turkish breakfasts can be very filling. Also, I asked for a phone charger but they did not have it in their facility. I believe these kinds of hotels should be able to provide these kinds of amenities.

we enjoyed it thoroughly: top location at the Bosphorus on the Asian side, quiet and relaxed place, stunning views, stylish interior design. Overall we can highly recommend and we will definitely return.

Room Tip: Loft Suite Rooms can be highly recommended as they have their own gardens viewing the banks of the B...

Four days at this hotel closed out two weeks in Istanbul, and what a great conclusion. A beautiful location, quiet if you want it, yet just minutes away from the thriving centers of Istanbul. The views of the Bosporus are wonderful and joined with extremely pleasant and comfortable interior design. The hotel runs its own boat so you can go immediately across the Bosporus to the European side. The food is excellent, either at the excellent waterside restaurant, or the first-rate restaurant next door adjoining the hotel. The staff are extremely helpful. We definitely intend to visit again and highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: This is a small hotel, and from what we saw, there are only good rooms and suites.

If you have had a few days negotiating the crowds around the main tourist sites of Istanbul, or even a couple of days just ambling around this wonderful city and find yourself in need of a quiet space to get away from the crowds of tourists and locals then Sumahan on the Water is the place to be. Quiet, relaxing and away from it all yet still making you feel a part of Istanbul this hotel is an ideal place for a night or two. Well designed rooms, courteous staff, good food and a place to sit and relax by the Bosphorus watching the ships passing by on their way to the Black Sea or from there to the Sea of Marmara and beyond. Day or night the view is enchanting as you look across from the Asian side to the European side.

There is a complimentary boat to pick you up and take you back to the main part of Istanbul but the times are a little eccentric and could do with some revision but it will save you a boring taxi ride from the local ferry port.

Room Tip: If you can get a room on the ground floor and step out onto the lawn at will and enjoy the view

We stayed here on our wedding day. It has a perfect view of the Bosphorus. It is like dream. It is located at a place where there is a risk of traffic at weekend but they have the sea transfer, so nothing to worry about. The rooms are very nice and food is very good quality. Service is so nice as well. Highly recommended to really enjoy the best of İstanbul

our visit is some time ago and still is in my mind and my soul. This little hotel has just a few rooms - each with wonderful views on the Bosporus. Beautiful interior design. Very nice food. No huge breakfast area as in most hotels. Very easy access to the water taxi to drive to town - and what a different way to travel than usual. One might not be directly in town - but I did not regard that as a disadvantage once.
