Our room was comfortable even though we had the cheapest room. Breakfast consisted of fresh bread, fruit, pancakes and all sorts of tasty toppings, that can be eaten in a nice small garden. The Berk hotel has a main roof terrace that has a perfect view of the sea, the hagia sophia and the blue mosque. And last but not least: the people of Berk are very friendly and know how to assist a tourist in finding out Istanbul. A reccomender!

The biggest selling point for this place is the location. You are a few minutes from the main sights so if you are smart enough to eat breakfast at 8.30 (when it is served) and head out to the main sights at 9 you should beat the mass of tourists and snap some great photos. We saw the Basilica Cistern when there was practically nobody and it was a joy. The owner Yeshim is very helpful and if there is anything that you plan on seeing e.g. Bosphorus tour with the ferry she will tell you the times and give directions.

Room Tip: As a couple we stayed in a double room on the ground floor. It can be a little noisy as you are next...

I loved staying at the Berk Guest House with my family. It really felt to be home away from home. We loved our host Yeshim . She is super nice and always helped us with everything we needed and made the place to feel at home . Also other employees were nice and helpful. The room was very charming , spacious, clean, and bright with a view of the sea and having the elevator was a big plus for us. We enjoyed our breakfast in a peaceful backyard. The hotel is in the heart of Sultanahmet and at the same time peaceful and quiet. We loved walking to all these historic sites within walking distance to our hotel anytime of the day and night which i enjoyed a lot to feel the ambiance of these magnificent sites in different times. Many great restaurants , cafes, and shops(Grand Bazar) within walking distance. Easy access to Public transportation also. I had been many times to Istanbul and this trip staying in this Lovely place with the Lovely host and in a very rich historic area of Istanbul had been my best experience ever and we will be back there ....

Perfect location as it's only a 5 minute walk to all the main sights. The room was fabulous - very spacious on the 3rd floor overlooking the Four Seasons Hotel. For a great view then the small roof terrace won't disappoint you - overlooks the Bosphorous so plenty to see! The breakfast is served downstairs and it was very good. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and we had some interesting chats! We would definitely stay there again! They also have a small lift for those guests who have problems with stairs.

We stumble upon this familiar hotel when we were searching for a nice hotel near to the hostel we'd stay in. And it was great: when we came in a nice lady with an lovely smile welcomed us at the reception desk. We fall immediatly in love with the lady (who were the chef of the hotel), the old but beautiful renovated rooms and the charme of the building! The nights were cool and silent. Our room had an balkony and we had a wonderful view. The breakfast in the morning was so good: pancakes and selfmade marmalade, hot eggs and good cheese and bread, and tee and coffee as well. The Chef were there with her husband and child and some really nice guests from all over the world.
We can really recommend this hotel and when we will stay there again, when we return.

Room Tip: Our room with the balkony was great, not so loud although situated to the small street. Groundfloor...

Came back to Berk Guest House after many years in June 2011. It had just reopened following renovations I believe in April 2011. Back firmly under management by its hosts and owners. We had two rooms for our family and everyone had a great experience and recommends the guest house to anyone.

Nicely renovated. Very clean. A/C. Breakfast outside. Roof terrace with view. Elevator available. Location just couldn't be better for access to Sultanahmet but also for an easy drive from the Ataturk airport. Parking in the streets of Sultanahmet is sparse of course but available just steps from the guest house for a fee.

The hosts and staff take great care of the place and their guests. Make you feel at home. What more could you ask for. Warmly recommended.

Room Tip: If you need elevator access to your room, ask for it during reservations

Brilliant location, excellent service, very clean, well maintained and definitely well worth the money. This pleasant family run Guest House is situated in one of the best areas in Sultan Ahmet only walking distance to the famous Topkapi palace, Ayasofya (Hagia Sophia) and the Blue Mosque. This area has great ambiance with little shops and loads of restaurants that serve fantastic local and international dishes. We stayed in Berk Guest House for a few nights and loved our clean air conditioned, spacious bright room and the friendly helpful staff. The owner Yasim was extremely helpful and accommodating and spoke English very well.
The breakfast buffet was real good with crepes, eggs, a selection of jam, cheese, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers and a variety of Cereals with tea and coffee.
If you plan to go shopping , a short taxi drive for about 10-12 TL will take you to Istiklal street or Taksim square
Overall I found this place of great value with great service and loved the location. I will definitely go back again.
