Description: Tarihi Cesme Restaurant is located in the historical heart of Istanbul on the half-island of Eminonu very near to the big sights like the little Aya Sofya mosque and the old Sokullu baths. The restaurant has three storeys and a romantic garden with a view on the centuries old fountain and the picturesque streets. On the menu you’ll find the traditional Turkish dishes; hot as well as cold food. Off course all the kebaps are served, but the restaurant also serves fresh fish, pides and one should really try the house speciality: Cesme kebap. A real treat! We would like to welcome you in our restaurant one day.

“Ate here more than once...”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

We ate here several times during a 5-day stay in Istanbul as we were renting an apartment down the road and it was by far the best food and service we found.

The sell for Cesme was not over-bearing - as it was for many other restaurants nearby...it was friendly and accepting...hence we decided to give it a try.

The food was fresh and well-cooked, particularly on the second occasion, when I had the fish of the day - very simple, but perfectly cooked. Following our first visit we had a lovely greeting every time we went by - always nice.

“Simple food for a good price”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

Restaurant where we ate a couple of times because it was close to our hotel, nice people and good price quality. We especially liked the mezze, served with the typical very thin bread (it's like a balloon, it looks huge, but is mostly air). The food is simple but good. Only tourists, no locals, but who cares.

“An Authentic Turkish Experience”
Reviewed 20 May 2014 via mobile

We had a relaxed and informal meal tonight at the Tarihi Cesme restaurant. Staff were vey attentive and the food whilst unsophisticated was very enjoyable. For an authentic Turkish experience that will not break the bank you cannot go past this restaurant.
