Its building which was built at the end of 1800’s still bears the trace of the years and the district it’s situated. The flowers, vintage photographs, objects and paintings at its halls, pull off the guests from their daily life and invite them to a sincere, cosy and friendly enviroment for at least a while. Sofyalı 9, wich the delicaciescan be enjoyed with either wine or raki, continues to open its doors between 13:00 and 01:00 hours everyday…

The worst food ever! We visited Istanbul in October and went there checking reviews on tripadvisor first, thinking it's going to be something traditional and nice. Was just horrible! We ordered shish and meze. Everything looked like prepared the day before and taken out from the fridge for us! Reheated shish!!!! I had better shish in London!!!! Unbelievable and sooo disappointing! Also everything overpriced and terrible service!

We ate at Sofyali last night. We were surrounded by the neighborhood and it was a wonderful experience with friendly and effective service. We were four and ate across the menu, but started with Anchovies and fried diced liver which were great, went on to lamb chops, fresh grilled fish and meat balls and finished with two desserts for the table. It was wonderful and fun, and great value.

We've eaten well in Istanbul, but for the combination of local location, good food, good service and a reasonable price this meal ranks right up there.

Another place we'll visit on our next trip here.

This is a bustling restaurant and a favourite of the locals including a friend who lived in Istanbul for 14 years and said it was his favourite restaurant in Istanbul. The small dining room is virtually part of the street scene and everybody is having a good time including families with young (and very delightful, well-behaved Turkish children). Try the Albanian fried and diced liver or the marinated anchovies for a starter. Excellent market fish (sea bass was sampled) and tasty lamb chops. The meatball however were a bit lacking in umph. The menu is small and this is not gourmet cooking, but the overall quality and friendly local atmosphere makes for a very enjoyable evening. Very good value for money.

First up, we went into the wrong restaurant and we were planning to leave once we saw the limited menu and the extremely limited vegetarian options. However, we decided to stick on and I'm glad we did because the mezze was delicious and our main meals of mushrooms and boreki was out of this world.
The place is cozy and the service was really good despite it being a very busy night.
My only complaint is that we weren't told that the feta cheese we were freely given would be charged to us.
Otherwise, this was an amazing place for dinner.

We went there in our second night in Istanbul. We were offered cheese and other starters without even having a chance to look at the menu or ordering the drinks. After the starters we had to wait a long time before seeing the menu... And see the prices of the starters we had just eaten... The main courses also took a long time after we ordered them.
The service was very rude and pushy. They really made us feel uncomfortable.
Food overpriced and average quality.
I will advise my friends to avoid this restaurant when they go to Istanbul.
